Overkill on the Fergie remarks, maybe, but your comments about Paisley and especially Clough are spot on. Paisley took over a good team and made them world beaters (except at the Dell!) while a manager that can take Derby and Forest to titles, and Forest to two European wins is just astonishing. Yet had he enjoyed the backing that Clough did at Forest, who knows what Lawrie may have achieved at SFC.

Moyes is a genius. I'm working on finding out where he keeps his horse so I can let The Don know for Saturday.

People seem to forget how very ordinary United were before Fergie took over. In my short lifetime, he's taken them from that to being more successful than the great Liverpool. Moyes is fantastic as well, and will probably be Fergie's successor.

Good managers usually make interesting pundits, but watching MOTD I was a bit disappointed by Harry's lack of insight. Hanson is good with the analysis even if he doesn't know much, so he's worth seeing, but Redknapp was surprisingly bland. Isn't he meant to know an awful lot about the game and be able to tell us something we didn't know already?

Just watching Holloways antics on Sky; Blackpool 1 Huddersfield 2 coming up to half time. Don't you just miss the cut and thrust of the Championship!

Mourinho - Gotta love the man. A breath of fresh air when he arrived in the Premiership.
Moyes - brilliant manager with a bit of fire.
Our Nigel - How could anyone be depressed with him around.
Martinez - plays the game the right way and seems a nice bloke with it.

    Dislike:

Holloway - Used to think he was funny, but now I think he plays on it too much - dick
Warnock - Whine, whine, whine, whine, oh yeah and whine - dick
Dalglish - The most over rated manager ever - dick
Poyet - Just a complete dick

Just a little input to a very good topic !!!

I'll go a bit "Old School" here but will mention five of the greats, Bobby Robson, Bill Shankley, Matt Busby and Alf Ramsey. Each a terrifc manager in their own unique way. If I remember correctly, during his time at Ipswich, Bobby Robson took his players on a visit to a colliery just to show them what priveleged young men they were. I should also add the great Jock Stein, the first manager from these Isles to lead a team to the European Cup.

How about this Joe? Can you imagine that every year in the early 80's I would have a bet with my united supporting mate as to who would finish higher... United or saints!!

    To put that into context:

Nottingham Forest are still the only team to have won the European Cup more than their domestic title. That takes some doing. Nigel Clough = football genius

Holloway is at it again. He took offence to Huddersfield fans singing "Blackpool's a ****hole I wanna go home". He hit back by implying Huddersfield is a dump. How immature.

    Brian, surely? <yikes>

Joe, as for Utd ( biggest club in England) being ordinary before Sir Alex; how "ordinary" were Derby and Forest?

yeah he is defo a bit of a dick. Like all fans sing that wanna go home your towns a **** hole song. Its standard. to actually take offence to is a bit like saying its total nonsense, their clearly not by the greatest team the world has ever seen - they've no righ to sing that or... what do you mean we're not singing anymore you ****ers, we've been singing for ages. how dare you say we're not sining anymore. Or, what do you mean who are we, we've existed since 1885 - how dare you say who are ya?

The best managers in the world at the moment? Fergie, Mourinho, Wenger, Moyes.

I can't wait for when Fergie retires, who they choose to replace him, I can only imagine Moyes with a huge budget, or perhaps Mourinho will go to Arsenal? He would be perfect there IMO, he could build up their defence, and they could be world beaters!

Holloway/Warnock/Poyet are the biggest tw*ts in football. People like them because they speak their mind, but sometimes it is best to keep your opinions to yourself...
