Just wanted to see what you Arsenal fans think the score will be on Saturday? It will hopefully be a great occasion and a great game (unlike the 0-0 last season). I'm going and I reckon the atmosphere will be very good as well. You're in good form and we aren't playing badly but I'm not confident. Would settle for a point but tbh, I think you'll beat us 2-1 or 3-1. Your midfield is where you will dominate us and that is where the game could be won or lost.
Agree with most of that. Think we will boss the midfield, but if you guys just turn up and defend deep, like you did last season, we might struggle.
Could be any scoreline this one, impossible to predict. Chelsea of old used to defend deep against us and then score from their only 2 chances of the game. Both teams are very different this season
Diaby looks to be a rock in the middle. Ramsey played well against City and is a good player. For us we have Mikel who, on his day, can be class. We need him to perform really well on Saturday. We should play ramires in the centre as well who provides useful defensive cover and is extremely fast when attacking. Our counter-attack is the area that I think could cause you most concern. If Mata, Oscar, Hazard and Torres are all on form (unlikely with the latter), then we have the potential to rip your defence to shreds. That said it seems you've worked hard on your defence over the summer. Should be an interesting and intriguing game.
I think we will come out with a very strong performance and Chelsea will revert to the Chelsea of old - defend deep and hope they get a chance to hit us on the counter. If we are wasteful infront of goal Chelsea have the ability to slot a goal or two away and punish us. That said i think we will trash Coventry tomorrow and be ready for a big game on the weekend. Cazorla, Diaby, Arteta is just such an amazing midfield i can't see anyone being able to compete with it - City where the team i thought would do it best and they clearly struggled. And with Wilshere getting back to fitness, Ramsey showing his old wonder kid form and oxocube trying to find his place in the team we are looking very godo through the middle.
I'm not ultra confident. Overall I think we have the better midfield, but Chelsea still have the better keeper, and in Mata and Torres they potentially have the better strike force (depends on which Torres shows up). In defence Luiz is their weak link, plus Terry isn't getting any younger so we can certainly take advantage there. All in all, like this weekend I'd be happy with a point. I think it's important that the top teams we're competing with don't pull away and not losing to them is the main way to guarantee that.
I agree i'd take a draw but think overall we are the better side at the moment and would like a win. Would be really disapointed in a loss though.
I'm not sure tbh that Terry will even play! He has the FA hearing and he may not be in the right frame of mind. I expect us to start with Luiz and Cahill. I would like a 1-1 draw. As long as us away fans have a goal to celebrate, I'm happy! Also can you recommend some good boozers to go to the ground before the game for an away fan? Cheers
I'd be happy with a draw, Chelsea are still a top side. That being said I would feel more confident of a win than I have in a long time against them. I don't think any side is simply going to roll them over though, we have to be realistic... if we win it will be by the odd goal.
And we have let our 'new Drogba' in Lukaku go out on loan! But be scared... we have the mighty Torres. You never know... Saturday may just be his day! (I've been saying this for the past year and it occasionally happens)
Not a drinker myself I'm afraid, but I'm sure there are others who can recommend an away visitors friendly pub near the ground.
I don't know why Torres gets the stick he does tbh. I'd take him at Arsenal in an instant. He's a top quality striker. Yeah he was out of form and couldn't score a goal at a new club with massive expectation in a new system that wasn't built around him like he was used to. But he is still a great player. If you watch him play he is a good CF and brings others into play very well - he isn't scoring asm uch as he used to but otherwise he's still got it.
I completely agree with you and there are times when he is brilliant but they aren't happening that often at the moment. Us Chelsea fans have supported him the whole time and will continue to do so. If he can start scoring with the likes of Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Marin, Moses on the field then our strike force would be incredible.
i think this will be a tight game, I think Chelsea will come to defend, they will play deep, and look to hit us on the break as they have the players to do that, plus they know we usually struggle when a good team sits in deep.
It all depends on how chelsea play to be honest, hopefully youth don't kill the game like you did last season, although this time i think that we will be better equipped to deal with that with giroud and our wide players. Also i think with hazard etc it will be hard to you to play fully defensively for the whole match. You are top of the league so i think that you will have a go at certain points, but the form we are in right now i do think that we will win.
Depends which Chelsea turns up. We could have another cracker like the 5-3, a 0-0 or something in between. We all know how Arsenal will play and I have a strong feeling we will see the Chelsea bus in which case I expect a 0-0. No Drogba to score on the break any more.
