Yes yes the former wonder kid who seems to be coming of age that would be Ramsey. A lot of people who were hard on him last season seem to forget that this young lad was emotionally and physically scarred from his horror tackle but he is finding himself again slowly but surely. You will see more of this young lad during the season and if Wenger gives him more games he will only improve. Wait till you see this other kid we have, goes by the name of Jack Wilshere.... A true prodigy of the game.
He was very good but not our best player by far. Arteta and Mertesaker were absolutely monumental. Ramsey is more aggressive now but still lacks consistency and not as alert defensively. 50% pass completion says it all, compared to something like 95% for Arteta ( 100 out of 106).
This game showed how far we have come from last season. Last year we would have lost a game like this but there is now sufficient strength in the squad to allow us to challenge for the title i firmly believe. We completely destroyed City in the first half, completely took them apart but we have to be more ruthless in front of goal and had we been we could have easily won the game by 2 or 3 goals. Our passing was exceptional in the first half but after city got the goal they locked the game, which to be honest is a credit to us, it shows us that they were too scared to come out and try and get the second goal. Now a year ago we would have lost that game 1-0 because they closed the game off and made it difficult, cazorla and diaby couldn't get on the ball and influence the game as much. But our strength in depth was a major factor as we were able to bring on giroud who has a physical presence and walcott meaning that we now had pace and width on both flanks and we became even more dangerous once again, we were even able to leave oxo on the bench and i thought we finished the match as the stronger team. Hopefully we are able to get gervinho's finishing to where it needs to be because we could have won the game had he put away one of his 1st half chances. But i thought our defence was again exceptional today (bar the goal/leading up to the goal) I havent been a fan of jenkinson this season but i thought he played very well as did mertesacker and gibbs but i thought that diaby cazorla and koscielney were terrific today and when vermalen frimpong rosicky and wilshere get back it really will be fierce competition for places.
We have to be fair though, before Gervino's miss, Mancity missed an open sitter! Both of us missed good chances, a draw was a fair result at the end of the day.
