Ah well....lets take the positives. We haven't been playing well but we're still picking up points...the sign of a good team, as they say
I said as much last week and we are sorely in need of a drive in midfield. When Bards is fit I'd have Gardner in there with Vaughan as soon as poss with Colback on the bench. McClean needs a rest.... a loooooooooong rest!
I'll have a bite on that mate We'll beat Wigan, I have little doubt, and then it looks a bit better. Ridiculous thing is, we could easily be sat here on 10 points, and we'd STILL have played pipe. We must learn to hold the ball, and we had 3 great breaks, one of them would have been finished off with AJ on the park I'm sure. 2-0 it's game over. Another positive of course is the back 5, who were superb, O'Shea in particular was an absolute beast.
Poor start to the season lads. Dread to think what would happen if Fletcher were to get injured or his run of form ends, just can't see where else the goals would come from. Another lucky point today it would seem looking at the stats.
If we had a few half decent performances i would be happy with the results so far! I think the postponement of the Reading game, one which i hope we would have performed well in, and won, has, along with the international break, given us a stuttering start to the season! With only playing one home game, against a better side, we have had a difficult start! 4 points will certainly suit me and i expect the performances to pick up once we have a fair run of games!!!!
I agree with you, but to be honest, I think will be 2nd best vs Wigan overall, but kill them on the break. I'm going for Wigan 0-2 Sunderland.
Wouldn't call it difficult. Arsenal yes, fair enough, but the rest weren't tough games really. You were all predicting a win against Liverpool for instance because they're weak at the minute.
Cest is spot on. We go one up & then sit so deep we might as well be mining for diamonds. It's ****e, inviting teams on like that. Sess & Jimmy may as well be elsewhere, we're playing with nine men. Garbage.
Let's be honest, had Vaughan scored the sitter he missed we'd all be on here applauding his tactics, cos' we would have won 2-0, I don't think 4 from 4 is bad. Our defence was amazing for 98% of the game. We haven't had any dead easy games, each one has been difficult, if we don't beat Wigan next week then that is concerning, however I for one am satisfied with our start KTF!
Far too early to panic. FAR too early... I'd rather start badly and get better than the other way round. And MON is too good a manager not to know what's wrong. We can't win, but we're hard to beat and that is something to build on.
My pal is a lifelong 52 year old season ticket holder at the Hammers and he txt me at half time pretty gutted and said we'd win easy as they are utter ****e. I told him then that we would go deep all second half and try to win 1-0 and invite them on. He txt me at full time and said I was spot on and he hadn't ever seen a team come with so little ambition for 45 mins and was equally gutted they hadn't actually won and this is our problem. If I can tell yet at half time what our tactics will be, other managers and players will be able km much better. We are frighteningly easy to work out. We have teams on the rack but we just don't go for the kill, thus we bring other teams back into the game. Look at Everton today at Swansea. 3-0 and punished them professionally. Swansea didn't have any good possession. We kept them in the game and its 100% the managers call on tactics. I love Mon but I am sharp going to get tired of these negative tactics. They were fine to shore up the team last season but I fully expected far more than this for the coming season. Not good enough Marty. Not good enough by anyone's standards.
I think we all knew we were starting the season with an unfinished team however, pretty much all our forward players seem unable to play football. We are good when we don't have the ball and ansolutely ****e with it! What do they do in training? ? Tactics or total lack of ability
TBH even if we had of won I wouldn't have been happy. It's along time since I watched a game and been so nervy and expecting the inevitable. To be fair even if we had lost I couldn't in all fairness of argued with the result.
Over the top, you've had a few tricky games and come through with points despite playing below par. Your new striker is firing on all cylinders and if one or two other players can follow suit you'll be picking up wins in no time. I'm certain you'll be top 10 this season.
All fair Cest mate. I love the bloke, maybe not quite as much as you but it's getting to a point where questions need to be asked.
