This is the team I prefer to start at Watford.. Heaton M Wilson....J Wilson....Fontaine....Foster Albert....Elliott....Pearson....Woolford Taylor....Baldock Subs- Gerken, Carey, Bryan, Morris, Anderson, Davies, Stead
Same as Wizered except I would leave Foster at right back and have Joe Bryan at left back. Keeps the shape and we must encourage our youngsters. If Alan Dicks had not persisted with 17 year old Gerry Gow, would he have been only half the player he became?
Think Del will agree with Wiz but not sure of M Wilson's fitness. Reckon Carey will play RB if he's unfit. However I'd like/hope to think Del rates Bryan highly enough to play him at LB and keep Foster at RB.
at least we got options at LB and midfield.. id play foster LB Wilson RB. But won't be too upset if i saw bryan at LB so we can keep the balance.
......................Heaton....................... ........Carey.......Wilson.............Fontaine .................Elliott......Morris........ Adomah.......Davies....................Woolford ...............Taylor.......Baldock.............. Maybe swap Carey for Foster
ROD; very interesting and imaginative. I wonder if that one has crossed DMc's mind. I think Foster for Carey in that set up as pace is needed in a three man defence. PS; I assume you mean James Wilson?
Del's interview in the week indicated that he was please with his performance when he came on at left back and that he may give him a chance at left back rather than loan somesome in.
'Can't make my mind up on Foster v Carey' - In a back 3 it has to be Carey. Quite like the set up except for Morris who I don't think can 'cut it' in the Championship. I'd prefer an extra defender playing away maybe Bryan. Mad, but I've put a bet on Elliot scoring the first at 12-1.
DMc obviously rates Joe Bryan very highly and looking to the future as he has selected Joe at left back today. And kept James Wilson at CB. COYRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bit lucky today. 'I'd like/hope to think Del rates Bryan highly enough to play him at LB' and 'Mad, but I've put a bet on Elliot scoring the first at 12-1' Bryan plays well and great cross for Marvellous Marvin - £260 - Happy days.
Just got back and most of you now my opinion of Elliott. But today I thought he was excellent. So to Shiny and Redprint on today's preformance I eat my hat. Joe Bryan more than stepped up to the plate. Albert played like we know he can and more in the second half. Taylor plays like a rock only blip was he never shot when most would of, Woolie could of had two should of had the first half chance second half one might of been tight angle but hit the post. (just seen it on football league show, yep it was a poor shot he should of scored from that angle) Fontaine played 100 x better than last week. The boy I want to do well had a bit of a disappointing game, but James Wilson will only learn from this and get better. Tom Heaton **** me we thought he would be in and out of the squad against Deano but a couple of inches taller would not be in this league. He is going to be a hero I know he ain't kept a clean sheet yet but how many has been down to him? Biggest highlight of the day was the fans we only heard Watford twice. We are great away but today fantastic
I did say a few weeks ago that Marv in a better team (and let's face it, we are light years better already) will bring him back to his best like in the first season and pretty soon, DM is going to have the nicest possible headache about who to select, ALL OVER THE PITCH. When DM settles on his best 11, WATCH OUT...!!
We now have a situation where we have genuine competition for places in a side playing well with confidence, that ability to keep coming back from adversity is the sign of a potentially very good side. I also wondered if Marv would fit in to our new style and philosophy of playing and to be honest I still do. The man is full of honest endeavour and cannot be faulted for that but I do still wonder if he has that quality we are going to need at CM? I can see Dell playing an almost Home and Away side with Marv fitting in to the away side better. (Cisse would have fitted in to this side so well!) I think it will be horses for courses and we may well not see a 'best 11' as such. What has been proved beyond doubt is the old myth about our midfield not being able to create goals for "Messi or Ronaldo" is nonsense, the balance is right and the strikers are right. The full backs are overlapping and creating some width. Just the defence...
Banksy, not in agreement on your last point - Sam Baldock is the complete striker, runs the channels, tries to set up his team mates BUT, his primary game is playing on the shoulder of the last defender. We are miles better now, much more solid in midfield but we still lack that general/brain - after 3 seasons of making wasted runs NM, pretty much gave up on it altogther.... Next game, watch how many runs SB has to abort because the ball is not played either a). quick enough or b). at all from our midfield - this is the life blood of this type of striker and whilst he makes up for it in other ways, if we had someone with the eye to spot his runs and play the EARLY BALL, I would pretty much snap the hand off of anyone offering me decent odds on him scoring 30+ goals this year
