not looking good for Nicky. Would never wish any injury on anyone no matter what the history was with our club. Good luck and a speedy recovery to him...... The Cardiff City medical team have this evening confirmed fears that the injury suffered by Nicky Maynard at Millwall on Tuesday night will see the striker out of action for a number of months. "Nicky has a torn anterior cruciate ligament, an injury that requires surgery," Cardiff City Head of Performance Richard Collinge said this evening. "He will remain under the care of a local orthopaedic specialist and the Cardiff City medical team, working through a substantial rehabilitation programme with the goal of returning to first team action when possible. Instances such as this can see varied recovery times and we will do everything to support and guide Nicky through the rehabilitation process. The player has the backing of all of us at the club and we all wish him a speedy recovery, coming back stronger than ever."
After his last long period he back, scored against a few of the weaker teams at the time as was not the same as 2 years ago. No one wishes ill to anyone with such long recovery times, and no one can say " he should have stayed here signed a contract, or should have stayed at WHAM it might not have happened" destiny is already there like our final position in the league and who our manager is at the the end of this season is already there.......we just havent got there yet. A serious injury once, age on yourside often works out well, serious injury twice and not so young often not very good result ...wish him well
It doesnt look good. Cardiff bought him for just under £3m. He has played 3 games (without a goal) and is now out to at least January. Only good news I guess for Cardiff is they have plenty of strikers at the club.
Gloat at Cardiff, gloat at West Ham but feel bad for Maynard. He handled our situation terribly, probably led by agent interference and a dream of a career at the top level. This is just sad, though. He should be at the peak of his career and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up dropping down a league after this.
AFTER THE INITIAL I make my own mind up and the almost on the point of signing it all got suddenly like agent interference...doubts, looking for potentially Premeirship etc etc Did he actually get on the field in the Prem???
Very sad for a man who was led down the wrong path by someone who was supposed to only have his client's best interests on his mind. Very symptomatic of today's players who are repeatedly told that they could do better somewhere else by their agents only to fing that the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side of the fence. Good luck Nicky and despite the fact that you upset many City supporters I don't think any of us would wish this injury scenario on you - get well soon son.
I don't know,at one time I thought Maynard was fantastic and loyal but life moves on,first Pitman, then Stead and now Sam,I think Sam is star material,we've moved way forward,Maynard is still hovering,I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery but as a person I no longer care...
Lets rise above what happened - life is too short to bear grudges - good luck to Nicky on making a full recovery
