Mackie: QPR can match Premier League's best 20/9/2012 8:39 AM Sportal QPR striker Jamie Mackie said the Londoners can match anyone in the Premier League, and will continue to get even better. After a disheartening 5-0 thumping against Swansea on the opening day of the season, the west Londoners' performances have steadily improved, resulting in a hard-fought draw against Chelsea last time out. And, after narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day last season, the Scotland international insists Mark Hughes' men have more confidence this time round. "There is perhaps a bit more belief that we can match these sides," Mackie told the club's website. "We showed it last season at home and we really need to believe that now. [Against Chelsea] that's the best we have been in terms of our tempo." The Loftus Road outfit signed 11 players in the off-season and Mackie believes the new signings will need time to develop an understanding on the pitch. "Good players can play well together, but knowing each other's game is an important element. You need to understand where people are comfortable and where they aren't," he added. "But more than anything, new lads need time to get used to the team shape and the demands the manager puts on his players. "Every training session we have, the better and more organised we will be."
"Every training session we have, the better and more organised we will be." Just wish Jamie'd ended that sentence with 'we've been'.
The Hughes article said we signed 12. This one says 11. Has Green floated off into the night like the Marie Celeste? I like the fact that no quarter is resting on their laurels and saying that we came of age last week rather than the currently stated idea that we continue to improve.
Summer is barely over, long way to go till May Dai. I'd wait till then before you and Huw start fellating each other over our relative league positions.
In our first game of last season, which was also at home, bolton won 4-0, and at the end of the season bolton were relegated. If any team is in a precarious position it is swansea. The higher they get the longer their fall, and it will be painful to watch, but pleasurable. I'm not going to predict anything, but let me say this, QPR will, by the end of this season, be in a position higher than swansea, and you can take that to the bank. Oh Happy Days COYRsssssssss
