I didn't catch all the match. Had to see a man about a dog, so had to partake of a pint. Jordan is starting to show what he is capable of, I saw most of the second half (after I persuaded them to turn off the scum game.) He was controlling things very well, passing and moving and not leaving others isolated. Always making himself available. He looks to be growing in confidence now. As I'm typing this Fowler has just said Hendo was fantastic. (SO not just me thought it then.)
looked like he had a good game from where i was sitting. good for him, i just hope he isn't restricted to these european cameos.
I mentioned to one of the Liverpool lads they hadn't seen the best of him yet and to give him a chance. He still looks overawed when playing with Gerrard mind.
he's a confidence player. make him think he's ****, as dalglish did and it looks like rodgers will do for the most part, and it's no surprise that when he does come on he'll only pass the ball five yards sideways. that then becomes self-fulfilling, as more people call him rubbish. he needs to go to a mid-table team where he is going to play thirty games a season, otherwise he'll end up being a never-was, making that move when his career is over.
Like you say confidence player. Some of his forward play was perfect tonight, cutting precise passes and reading the game well. I get the feeling he is one of those lads who take awhile to realise he is now a man. (If you know what I mean, where he defers rather than taking charge.) I still think he can do a job at Liverpool he just needs a run of games to get his head sorted, and maybe an arm round his shoulder and told to go out and play his game.
He always flattered to deceive a bit, but there's no denying he has talent. He needs to take a bit more responsibility though, whether Gerrard is playing or not. Seems to float through games without ever taking them by the scruff of the neck.
The problem last season was that he was played at right wing - put far too much pressure on him, it's not really his game. We all want him to be a neat, tidy passer - which he is - and a decent tackler, which he is. If he can perform consistently he'll be a decent squad player, and will gain the confidence to show more ambition in the final third. He has the talent, he just needs to show it.
The lad's got the talent within himself (alway's thought he had more to show us) all he need's is a gaffer to bring it out of him.Maybe rodgers and co. can be the one's.
