Only the uneducated don't like Ale. Cider in the summer ale in the winter.. Guinness if they don't have proper ale.. I only drink lager at a BBQ or if a boozer literally has nothing else..

I can understand why some don't like ale as I don't like all ales as some are vile.. Was on Butty Bach the other night, magnificent stuff.

 

I drink bitter on occasion! Brains Original bloody nice stuff. Youngsters and their crappy Carling!

 

If you ever avail yourself of the hospitality of the Cheese, you will see that I am a shrinking violet compared to the rest of the clientele in there. Including the split-arses.

I drink lager because of Birmingham. I drank bitter when I went to university. However, the only bitter available at that time in that shathole was either M & B or Ansells. Both tasted like rotting flesh.

 

Bitter is ok for a change. The American Ales are top notch stuff like Brooklyn Beer and Sierra Nevada.

 

Ansells used to be a good pint.. Birmingham is responsible for the best bitter I've ever tasted an that is bathams, nectar of the gods that **** I tell ya.. I also like banks's

Problem with ale is youre reliant on the landlord knowing what they're doing as cask ales need to be cared for and nurtured. Has to be left to settle, have poetry read to it to make it feel welcome, then has to be tapped before teasing any of the goodness from it.

 

I despise carling and all other 4% piss water lager. Never drink it and walk out of any pub that sells it and doesnt carry others.

Prefer Cider but dont really drink often.

 

So when did Bitter stop becoming the bums drink?

Are real ales bitter or something? Or something different?

 

Tried both of those recently one at the Victoria in brum an once at my local who were having an American ale festival..

I fu.king hate margarine. I went on a brewery trip to Bank's when at said university. At that time, it was a relatively small brewery. We got the tour out of the way and then went into a room where there were two kegs of bitter and a buffet. I got stuck into the ale and had 5 pints within 45 mins. I then picked a few butties up. I put a whole one in my mouth. IT WAS STORK /B] I then proceeded to empty the beer-filled contents of my stomach all over the floor.
