Numerous catch the eye at prices but its hard to be overly confident about them, one horse stands out as the Boris Fenster Double Lock Leather Briefcase Job Yarmouth 3.20 Spithead 5/2 Pillar to Post Job. Two Kevin Ryan runners of interest at Ayr in the shape of Warfare 9/1 and Clayton 9/2, both off the back of breaks, both worth small interests at carnival odds, particularly the latter, but as I say, hard to be overly confident and the only serious money is with the Haggas runner at Yarmouth. An interesting card over in Ireland and a good chance for Slipper Orchid to break the maiden in the 2.35 provided the Weld newcomer is nothing above average. In the 3.05, a nice opportunity for Rominintheglomin 5/1 to get back on track, the step back up to 7f will suit and she should go close, Lord Jim could be the danger, will be overlooked by most but the money was down for him last time and it would be no surprise to see a bold show here in a weaker event. Back In Focus makes his chasing debut in the 4.05, hes going to be a short price and will likely take all the beating but there could be a bit of value in White Star Line against him who has proved himself no mug with good runs behind Hidden Cyclone and Hunt Ball, he has the advantage of experience and if the fav dosent live up to the hype he could be the one to take advantage. The 5.05 looks an ultra competitive 3m handicap hurdle and cases can be made for most, my two against the field are Star Neuville 15/2 and Aughnacurraveel 10/1, its impossible to fancy anything strongly so small stakes, the serious money with the Haggas runner at Yarmouth Good luck
Couple for me today. Doubt I'll get around to write ups. 5.40 Kempton Gee Major 14/1 9.10 Kempton Mitie Mouse 18/1 Also taking the price about two I like for the Ayr Gold Cup and who I've been following for quite a while Maarek 16/1 & Sholaan 16/1. Write ups to come on the day
Morning, troops. Am waving the ‘no bet’ banner today. The most interesting aspect of today, gee-gee wise, has to be seeing, in an hour or so, who qualifies for the Gold, Silver and Bronze races up at Ayr on Saturday. It’s the latter 2 heats that I’ve got my old eyes on and am looking forward to especially seeing where Advanced and Cheveton go. Although the latter may not survive the dreaded cut, I’m afraid.
White Star Line @ 2/1 (GP) 16:05 BEGINNERS CHASE 2m 6f Moveable Asset @ 11/4 (GP) 15:35 HANDICAP (3YO+) Repeater @ 2/1 (GP) 16:20 HANDICAP (3YO+) 1m 6f Spithead @ 5/2 (GP) 15:20 HANDICAP (0-70) 1m 3yds Lucky and Accy, nice write up by boris, joe, compton or who ever but he knows you know gutted about Ayr Stay Frosty
Yarmouth 4:20 - Mawaqeet ran in behind SirGW at Goodwood lto and may have gotten closer had he not found trouble early on and been left out the back. Finished as though he could stay further. I think he may have a chance in a weaker race today. 5/1
Victrix Gale looks worth a dabble in the 5.05 at Listowel. Just squeaks in at the bottom off a mark of 108, she ran up a hatrick of chase victories earlier this year which saw her raised to 117 over the larger obstacles. Annie Power might just sneak the last race on the card
Biggest bet I have had in a long time today BACK IN FOCUS 4.05 LISTOWEL. 7/4 - I still believe this horse is a beast. The way he won at Haydock on his debut for Howard Johnson was sensational. Bad effort at Aintree on better ground but a decent comeback run for Willie Mullins and now goes chasing. Risky having a decent bet first time over the larger obstacles but I am confident he is going to be very good. Will relish the heavy going today.
One eyecatching fancy from me today runs in the 4.00 Pontefract PEARL DIVA 12/1 (EW) is one of a number of eyecatching rides for De Sousa today and he is worthy of following through the card all have decent place or win claims. Good luck to all who play today
I've played the Haggas horse in the next. Even though I have B.O.G I'd rather it hadn't drifted so much. Doesn't fill me with confidence. I should stick to Saturday betting.
