Despite what you might consider an unspectacular start to the season for Man City playing them at their place is obviously a very daunting prospect. Only once in 19 home leagues in the 2011-12 season did they fail to win (Sunderland 3-3) and if you stretch the full run it's as follows; 2012-13 - 2 Wins out of 2 2011-12 - 18 Wins out of 19 2010-11 - 13 Wins, 4 Draws, 2 Defeats out of 19 Last home defeat December 20th 2010 (v Everton) so that's 31 Games unbeaten and in that run of that 29 Wins so only Fulham and Sunderland have got anything from their visits They've still looked vulnerable...the last day of the season to QPR and opening game to Southampton had them on the ropes at times but honestly with this type of record a draw would be an amazing achievement for Arsenal and help us build on a solid start, unbeaten with more emphasis to try and get the 3 points in our home game against Chelsea the following week. This will be a great test to what kind of team we're building
Crumbs. Didn't realise that!! It will be a tough game. Hope all the players are well rested up before then, it's going to be a monster!
I agree. I said Man City's home ground is a fortress but we were one of 5 teams to beat them last season. A draw would be amazing to get against Man City considering the circumstances. We were very very unlucky to lose against last season at the Ethihad. I hope Wenger plays Gerv down the left, Man City could not deal with Ronaldo down the flanks and I think the key to winning this game will be with our full backs. If Gibbs/Gerv and Jenkinson/Oxo-Walcott, respectively, win that battle down the wings, we could snatch a win. If Diaby doesn't step up, we are going to lose that midfield battle. For me, Man City have the strongest midfield when their players are at their best. Fortunately for us, Nasri pulled his hamstring last night, Silva is not at his best but Yaya Toure could dominate that midfield on his own. If Arteta and Diaby can neutralize him then we'll have a fair chance at winning.
I'm going to do a Wenger. As long as we put in a good performance I will be happy. I do think that people need to prepare themselves for the fact that we will give up chances, and make mistakes, and some of the players may get tired. It will not mean that they are chokers, useless, lazy, or should be sold. It is just what happens when you play good teams.
he will be on the bench imo, and I have predicted a 1 1 draw but wouldnt be suprised if you guys won tbh
A win would be terrific but I suspect it will be a draw.. which will be ok for us. I hope we don't lose though.
They only beat us by one goal at the Etihad last season, and IMO this season we look much better as a team.
Law of averages states we actually have a good chance considering we havent won their in a while but that thinking might be nonsense!
I think we'll be well up for this game. I think it's coming just at the right time of the season too. City will attack us and that should suit us well. We've been defending well, and as at Anfield, we hit Liverpool on the counter twice. I think we can do the same at City and I'm going for a narrow win
The game has 0-0 written all over it. I jest. I all honesty I think it will be a draw and I'm going with 1-1. A lot might depend on how City pick themselves up from the Madrid game. Heads still down or fired up?
You guys should go for a win! Don't worry about City's strengths, let them worry about yours! Just keep a watch on Dzeko (spelling) and Tevez!!
we usually do good against City, we were unlucky to lose 1-0 to them last season at City, should've been a draw, and we totally outplayed them at the Emirates.
I will be amazed if you lose to city...they haven't really got going this season and you look strong at the back.
