This is the perfect game for Assaidi to show what he's capable of. He's come from the continent and this is a continental fixture, therefore it will be played at a slower pace than a PL game. This is perfect to ease him into the side. I don't think he should be pushed into starting in the PL yet, as he's still got to acclimatise, so these sort of games are the way forward for him. I'm really looking forward to seeing Samed Yesil at some stage. This is catch 22, as he may struggle or he may be one of the best buys of the season. It always happens with unknowns, He may be a Javier Hernandez or an Andrei Voronin.
WOW some of the sheer 2rose tinted glasses" optimism on this thread is astounding. the first page where people are talking about what i'd call a distinctly weak line up as "solid" is amazing.
I would prefer to see a couple of youngsters integrated at a time. Instead of this very youthful lineup. However, I think they will all be playing for more first team opportunities and it will be a courageous performance. Its far better than seeing a team of deadwood don you think?
I think thats the case for any European game.. If you dont perform you dont win. Young Boys can be useful at home as we know from their result against you guys. A good challenge for the young guns, and there is every chance they will not finish on top... I think most fans know this.
Exactly - we're not just playing rubbish players who have no chance to break into the first team (maybe Brad Jones and Carragher are the exception). All of these lads should have a point to prove and they should be hungry for this opportunity,
so would i. a couple of youngsters with an established performing set of senior players... not a sctach outfit. I am of the opinion thast we are due a hiding and either this one or sunday could be the ones...... Jones! Wisdom will have to play it seems. Carragher will be on his zimmer frame coates will be on his own at the back and thats not ideal. LB? god knows... sahin is half fit. Henderson or shevley or coady or who? suso? Assaidi.. debut Yesil... debut... Borini? this has the shape of a right spanking... young boys a couple of years ago ran spurs ragged, their manager is right about us taking them too lightly and i think they will be up for it... I expect at minimum a struggle of a game like the aay legs we played i nthe last two rounds... is this an education for yuong lads? hmmmm
I think you're being a little over-negative there MITO. "You can't win anything with kids".................................................
I dont think any of our players will take them for granted as the YB boss suggests. Players stepping up are not going to take any team for granted. I think it will be a hard game but we will be ok.
I don't think people are being unrealistic about the team, from what I'm reading people are well aware that this could go very wrong but are also optimistic that some of these kids can step up. There is plenty of experience in the squad so I'm happy enough that we have enough of a balance to win this and I hope that Sahin can get some match fitness and that the likes of Yesil and Suso can show that they are closer to the first team than we have hoped.
I really see nothing wrong with .... -------Yesil------- Assaidi---suso----Downing -----Sahin---Allen/Shelvey Young but at least it is the young players that can step up. You have to add some experience in there though with Assaidi, Downing, and Sahin.,
I think Morgan will get the nod, but you can't shy away from the fact yesil just seems to score everywhere he goes and at each level he reaches.
