I think United have done as much as they can given the point that its easy to upset fans of either persuasion with a comment after it gets dissected and then quoted out of context. They have been very direct with their fans were the chanting is concerned and while I have a small issue with the MUST statement, I think there is enough good intent there to hope for a respectful day on Sunday and going forward. Must say have been impressed with the United fans who have responded on forums etc. and am hoping that despite the fact there will still be the silly arguments around who said what first, you called me this, I didn't say that etc. in the short term, in the long term I am more hopeful of the vile chants from both sets of supporters ceasing, they are only a substitute for a lack of Wit anyway. My real Ire is reserved for the FA and the authorities who were in charge at Hillsborough. Read this in the comments section of a MEN article regarding United trying to stop the chanting. We can all tolerate the abuse towards Evra and Suarez and chants about Giggs claiming the family man of the year award. but let's not let the emotions boil overto hatred at the cost of those poor families eh?!
You're 100% right. I think we can tolerate when opposing fans taunting opposing players. So on this occasion, calling Wayne Rooney a fat granny shagger and that he only shags whores will be acceptable. Also mentioning Ryan Giggs' extramarital affairs with his sister in law and a no talent slut with huge tits called Imogen will be acceptable from Liverpool fans. On the other side, singing ''The baby's not yours'' at Steven Gerrard'' and ''He kisses the badge on his chest, and hands in a transfer request'' and the ''Sign on, Sign on'' song will be tolerated. It should be limited to taunting players, they can take it, as they earn enough.
I do agree, but I can't help but feel there will be booing by utd fans initially and then chants, followed by chants from the liverpool crowd. It is just inevitably going to happen. Maybe its a good thing people are concentrating on the handshake fiasco. I hope that many camera are pointed at all the crowd, so that some bans can be put in place.
At some point in your life you have to take the chance and give others the benefit of the doubt. Nobody knows who will chant what on Sunday. We have to hope that they can be as respectful as the Newcastle fans were on Monday Night. If they are then all is well. If theyare not then the best idea that I've seen forwarded is frank's - greet it with stoney silence.

Stuff like that on Sunday is acceptable. Even the ''Feed the scousers'' and the ''Sign on, Sign on'' and the ''We hate Scousers and City of course'' stuff. Thats trivial and minor. On Liverpools side, the ''Evra song'' Liverpool fans sing, plus the ''We're not racists, we only hate Mancs'' can be deemed as been minor and trivial. I would even go to saying Gary Neville is inbred may be acceptable.

I'm not suggesting any such thing. Compare what I've mentioned to tragedy mocking and its really trivial and minor and can be deemed to be acceptable. So think logically, which is acceptable, player taunting rather than tragedy mocking? Players being taunted will let it in one ear and out the other ear, they are paid enough to get thrown abuse at them. I doubt it if Wayne Rooney ever cares that 42500 Liverpool fans call him a ''fat granny shagging bastard''.
