Samba completes 45 minutes as Development Squad beat Watford 3-1 in friendly ... Samba Diakite completed 45 minutes of action as QPRâs Under 21s beat Watford 3-1 at Harlington in a behind-closed-doors friendly fixture this afternoon. Diakite, who hasnât played for the first team since our 1-1 draw at Norwich almost four weeks ago, looked fresh and full of running as he joined the action at half-time. DJ Campbell gave Rangers the lead early on from the penalty spot following a foul in the box on Michael Doughty but the visitors drew level on the stroke of half-time. After the break, Rangers enjoyed the lionâs share of possession and regained the lead with their second penalty of the afternoon when Rob Hulse was bundled over. Râs youth product Frankie Sutherland assumed responsibility from the spot, coolly sending the keeper the wrong way. QPR doubled their advantage moments later through Tom Hitchcock. Mo Sharif delivered a set-piece from the left to the far post where Jake Downes smartly diverted the ball back across goal for Hitchcock to head home from close range. The Under 21 fixture, which permits three over-aged players as well as the goalkeeper, provided useful run-outs for Kieron Dyer and Shaun Derry, who completed 55 and 90 minutes respectively. QPR Starting XI: Murphy, Sharif, Magri, Brown, Sutherland, Doughty, Dyer, Derry, Andrade, Hitchcock, Campbell.
Like this? -------------------------Cesar-------------------------- Bosingwa----------Nelsen-------M'Bia-------------Traore -------------------------Derry-------------------------- ------------------Granero-----Faurlin------------------- SWP-----------------------------------------------Park ------------------------Zamora------------------------ Won't be far off the team I'm guessing. Obviously I'd play Hoilett or Taarabt instead of SWP though.
Taarabt plays his best on the left, same as Hoilett. really is a toss of the coin between them. I go for Tarbs though
Yeah, Col, that is a definite option. If Diakite fit then him for Derry. Spurs main threat is down the flanks so I wouldn't start Adel or Hoilett - another day for them
Traore won't start for consistency/gelling's sake. Onouha was solid Vs Chelsea! We've started 442 in our last few games, so i can't imagine we'll deviate from that either. It'll probably be the same side we saw last week post-subs, but with Mbia replacing anton
If Spurs have Walker and Lennon attacking down our left hand side we will find that difficult I am sure MH is thinking hard about that At least we will only have Bale on the other side
I'd like to see something like this, but suspect MH will be too cautious: ---------------------------Cesar-------------------------- --------Bosingwa------Nelsen------M'Bia-------Traore------ Adel--------Granero-------Diakite-------Faurlin---------Hoillet --------------------------Cisse------------------------ Park for Diakite if he ain't fully fit.
Park will play...semi-contractal, he is our captain and beginning to play well. Maybe Diakite instead of Adel, who will come on if we have to chase the game.
From your selection I think Zamora, SWP, Park and Onuoha will play, ahead of Cisse, Taarabt, Hoilett and Traore
You probably right GTH. I expect MH will play something like you say, but I think playing both Park and SWP in wide positions is way too defensive, and I'd like to see the better attacking options that Adel and Hoillet provide used. I have a feeling that giving Cisse a start up front instead of BZ Sunday could give him the kick start to his season he needs - and ours! I suppose you'd have Bosingwa at LB and Onouha at RB, I think we will be better with a natural LB in Traore, who also is very good at getting forward and crossing (which we are missing), and Bosingwa looks a step up on Onouha at RB to me.
Suspect Cisse and either Adel or Junior Hoilett will be brought on in the second half, injuries allowing. I hope it's Adel against his old club.
Hey Oslo, i've seen a few other people suggest a similar team to you, and have some questions about the selection: 1) Why make 5 changes to a side that's just started to Gel, and by most people's accounts put in a good performance on saturday? 2)How would Mark Hughes be able to justify his selection if this new team turned in a poor performance? He would be inundated with queries about why he didn't stick with the side and formation that he's favoured since the Walsall game. Fans would crucify him 2) Why drop two players who had a good game Vs Chelsea in Park and Zamora? One is our captain, and most think he's improving; the other has found some good form recently. There needs to be a performance based incentive in terms of selection. How can Hughes maintain a good attitude in the dressing room if players know they'll be dropped regardless of how they play? 3) Taraabt hasn't featured since Swansea, Hoilett since Norwich. Is Tottenham away the best time to reintroduce them into the fold? Wouldn't it be better to give them some game time against Reading in the cup in the hope of playing them Vs West Ham, a side we can more justifiably field an attacking lineup against. Spurs have some great wingers, i'd worry for tarbs/junior if they were "thrown into the deep end" against them. I come in in peace It's interesting to know the thought processes behind all the various team we could field!
