The asphalt tends to be bumpy and slippery, and grip is further compromised by street furniture such as manhole covers and painted white lines. Nonetheless, the cars manage to generate up to 4.3g under braking despite the lack of adhesion. With 61 5.073-kilometre laps, which are run anti-clockwise, the race tends to come close to the full two-hour time limit, so coupled with the heat, humidity and constant bumps, this makes it a very physical experience for the drivers as well as placing heavy demands on the tyres.Paul Hembery, Pirelliâs motorsport director, said: âPersonally speaking I love the Singapore Grand Prix: it makes for an amazing spectacle at night with a great atmosphere and a fantastic challenge for our tyres. âDue to the unusual circumstances in which the race is run, under more than a thousand spotlights, the teams and drivers have to think very hard about strategy â as track conditions and evolution are somewhat different than you would find in a normal daytime race. âOne factor that could certainly come into play is safety cars: during every single Singapore Grand Prix that has been held so far since 2008 the safety car has come out at some point. âThis means that strategies have to be flexible as well as effective in order to quickly take advantage of any potential neutralisation. âWhile the humidity is constantly high, it hasnât yet rained in any Singapore Grand Prix so this should be the same again this year and we are likely to see the ultimate performance offered by the two softest slick compounds in our Formula One range. âLast yearâs race was won with a three-stop strategy by Sebastian Vettel, but Lewis Hamilton finished fifth after stopping four times and taking a drive-through penalty as well. âAs average speeds are not very high, degradation should not be an issue if wheelspin is controlled out of the slower corners, which can lead to overheating.â Prediction Results:

Forum Member Points

Samurai 4

Masanari 3

El_Bando 3

Julius Caesar 3

MaxWhiplash 3

Schneiderlin is the Goal King 3

WestCoastBoogaloo 3

Forza Ferrari 2

Roadrunner 2

Ajay Fernando 2

Paco Montoya 2

genjigonzales 2

Miggins 2

AbsolutelyGlorious 2

Chris 13 2

Believe In Lewis 2

JohnyBaws 2

GUEST 2

Nazara 2

Drudeboy 1

Dazz19 1

Kyle? 1

oglow 1

EDGE 1

Stephen Lickorish 1

tribo32 1

Exiled_Geordie 1

BrightLampShade 1

Silver Arrow 1

Smithers 1

Schumacher 1

SpursGuru 1

The IceMan 1

Sportydan 1

tomcat606 1

DHCanary 1

tomtom94 1

TheModestMatt 1

Fred! 1

Landen 1

One from Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton and Kimi me thinks.. but, as the experts say its a traction track, so the Mercs may surprise, no one expected them to be so good at Monaco? However voted Hamilton, he's won there before, the cars the class of the field right now and it does appear he's got the bit between his teeth, he could do with Button finishing second and maybe the odd Lotus and Red Bull to finish ahead of Alonso, but Alonso is a two time winner here, driving better than ever, me thinks he'll sneak another podium at least!
After that near miss in Italy when i voted Perez, i'm being boring this week, and picking Vettel, as i reckon the track suits the Red Bull. Lotus are worth a mention too.
ferrari was strong in monza, alonso was unlucky things didnt go his way in quali there. so i dont think mclaren have the best car,BUT it still should be good enough to win.so its between alonso and lewis, ive chosen lewis again.
Gone for Alonso again. He usually goes well at Singapore. And I will make a cup of tea for the elephant in the room, unless he prefers coffee.
Looks like the Silver Arrows may push up again after the mid-season dive. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102642 The shark fin was not a development in performance, it was to do with driver identification standards, which apparently need to be improved for the fans, I usually look at the T-cam colour.
I am messing around Genji, please vote The poll isnt that bad. Infact its better than the last one as it is actually public now
Allan McNish is the driver steward. Best news I've heard all week. Let's see if he can make it three in a row!
I have voted Alonso. I am not his biggest fan but he is the best driver in F1 at the moment and has done well here before. Would have liked Jenson to have been in with more of a shout but his season is more or less wrecked and he knows it. Flavio is right about Alonso, or least in part. And Lewis is too erratic still. He will stay with Mclaren if his management team don't mess up. He will move to another team next time his contract comes up. He will be lucky and get 1 more WDC with Mclaren, might even be this season. Then he will move to build his brand identity which is important to him.
They invite a former driver each race weekend to the Stewards comitee to offer a drivers eye view to Penalty decisions during the race. Also they are not Biased.... Nope.... Not one bit This weekend it is former Toyota F1 driver and Le Mans winner Allan McNish. They have previously had former drivers that are nice and never harshly critical to other drivers such as Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell and Johnny Herbert. Thats also another point..... They are also most of the time of British Nationality. Hope that helps
