"Bruce added: "We'd still expect him to be out until at least the start of November, and it might not be until this time next season that we see Jack being right back to his very best. It's a very difficult injury to get over.

It'll be tough after a year out to make your comeback in the Premier League.

The way it reads, I wouldn't think JH will get his regular place back until next season. But I guess a lot will depend on how we are going and whether there are any injuries to Faye, Bruce and Chester.

    Dear Steve,

When Hobbsy is fit, you should play him.

If you play your son ahead of him, just because he's your son, then I'll kick you in the bollocks really ****ing hard.

Then I'll kick your son in the bollocks even harder.

    Twice.

    Love,
    OLM

Disappointing news this, Little Bruce is doing OK though. Hopefully Cooper can get into Bruces good books too.

I'm not his biggest fan, but he's our manager so I'll support him regardless, so long as he makes decisions on merit, not on genes.

Oh you write such a lovely letter OLM.

As the saying goes, lets worry about Jack Hobbs once he is fit.

So when Stewart comes back from a serious injury mid season we're all supposed to give him time to get his form back and be patient with him because it's hard to come back without a proper preseason, but when Hobbs comes back from a serious injury Bruce is a **** who's going to play his son ahead of him for no other reason than him being his son just because he's said Hobbs might not be back to his best until he's had a proper preseason?

I take it as a positive that we dont have to rush him back.

And Alex Bruce would be in the XI every week on merit at the moment. I dont care if he was signed in dubious circumstances, he's playing better than any of our defenders. Get over it.

He's playing well but I'd say the other 4 have all done better...

Very true. Well said. I do like it when players have points to prove.

As for the Hobbs and Stewart situations,, IMO is far easier for a centre back than a winger after a long lay off. Stewart did need a pre-season but Hobbs wont. I would expect it to take Hobbs 2 months to get back to his best assuming that he is in the team. Steve Bruce may give FAYE a winter break once Hobbs is ready to keep him fresher. . Just a thought.

Alex Bruce seems to be doing ok so far this season, but I don't think Steve Bruce got to where he is today by playing his son 'just' because he is his son (for example).

He's no fool and a good manger. Ref. our current league position and the recent performances against Bolton and Millwall.

    It wasn't a real letter.

Putting all of the irrational prejudice against SB and AB to one side I think our manager and his son have done enough to earn our respect.
The system Bruce Sr has put in place was ridiculed by some posters, but now it's virtually unanimously seen as a success and most fans are purring over the last two results.
This is something that deserves praise (considering the two previous managers couldn't solve our attacking problems) and those who condemned SB and the formation should now man up and admit they were wrong.

Equally Alex Bruce has had a torrent of abuse on here by some and he has proved to be a more than able deputy for Hobbs. AB has probably made less mistakes than Chester in recent weeks so again lets hear a few of those people now giving him some fair credit. Also it will be SB's decision when Hobbs comes back and who he replaces - That's why he's our manager and as fans we should support him.

Neither of the Bruces are on a probation period where every little error they make is put under the microscope and then aggressively criticised. If you take that stance you have to apply it to everyone at the club.

You're not the only one reading conspiracy into Bruce's comment.
