Alright lads, I've recently moved to Lyon and have taken in a few Olympique Lyonnais matches, as most of you will probably know our former favourite Steed Malbranque signed a 1-year contract there.

The guy has been absolutely class for a team that's unbeaten and now second of the French league. I swear I haven't seen him lose possession once. Incredibly he's lasted 90 minutes in every game so far. Perhaps he's cut out the ***s? Miracles can happen I suppose.

No real point to this article, but it's always nice to see a former player doing well! Keane did make some poor signings during his time in charge but I feel privileged to have seen a player of Steed's class in a red and white shirt.

If steed had pace he would've been a top top player.

    Unbelievable ball control.

Studying at the uni there on a year abroad mate, it's a beautiful city and actually quite affordable compared to Paris, would certainly recommend it for a weekend away.

Agreed Quillips, his vision is outstanding as well, he swept a perfect first time 20-yard pass out to Lopez the other day without even looking, shame he couldn't be 10 years younger.

You're welcome mate, it's great to see him playing again after that bizarre story about his non-existent son having cancer from last year!

I was gutted when he left tbh.

One of the best, if not the best, technical footballers I have ever seen wear the shirt of SAFC.

    Quality from top to toe.

He was class all right. Could use a younger version of him now, while Sess finds his feet.

Thanks for the info mate. He was class, but also frustrating that he never played a full 90mins, and couldn't score.

Has he found his scoring touch for Lyon??

Will always remember him for the dummy he did on Milner at the SOL, ball came at him from height, trapped it, turned and at the same time megged Milner and left him for dead, sheer class act.

OT, but what have you been doing on your year abroad? I'm just about to start French and Spanish at uni, and I think one of the options is Lyon...

Ha'way man - London is almost affordable compared to Paris!!! <whistle>

As for the wonderful Steed - fantastic vision, ability and passing - shame he couldn't score goals!! Peopl say he lacked pace but he didn't need pace - his close control made defenders look ****e (as the song said). I love watching him play for us

MonsMush- haven't had a chance so far mate, still getting used to finding my way around here and negotiating around the baffling tu/vous business! Will definitely be heading down there at some point over the year though, gonna try and visit Annecy as well, it looks fantastic.

Teesside- He's still yet to open his account for OL, though he's actually playing a little deeper than he used to for us. He's notched up a fair few assists though so far, and he seems to be at the heart of every attack!

jersey- I'm studying Literature at the University here mate. As it happens I have a few friends doing French and Spanish here, I'd definitely recommend Lyon for a student, it's very safe and the public transport is outstanding, and there are several unis here so the nightlife is pretty good!
