Once again Adkins and we are making a mistake by under estimating a so called 'lesser' club, Villa are an unknown quantity as Newcastle and Swansea found out, and after seeing an hour of their game yesterday on Sky's red button service, for the majority of the game they just outplayed Swansea, and to be honest I only think the best we can get is a point right now, plus Benteke looks like he's going to be a handful.

Villa have improved since everyone relegated them three weeks ago. They did well against Swansea who had a pretty major off day. But if our midfield shows Utd form instead of Arsenal form, we can definitely beat them. Anyway the point that I think Nigel was making is that we can spend all week worrying about why we lost to Wigan and what went wrong at Arsenal, but it ain't gonna change a damn thing.
To be fair guys that is NA's own words that are being quoted......."the season starts with the game on Saturday against villa". The pressure is on him and the players guys, lets get behind him and the team no matter what happens Saturday..........

I haven't seen the interview but I imagine he's just saying forget about what's happened so far by season starts against Villa. He'll have the same mindset against Everton if we lose to Villa. Hopefully we beat Villa.
I think he means it positively in the sense that forget first 4 games and start again, but it can of course also be read as putting pressure on the team. We have to start getting points, but even 5 games in would be too soon to write off our chances as long as we are learning from these games. We must not assume that we can't get better and other teams can't get worse. I'm off on a trip to York now but will arrive back in Southampton Central at 5.15 on Saturday...here's hoping I see smiling Saints fans. COYR
Adkins was invited to agree that, "the season starts against Villa" and he agreed in the sense that with no points on the board, that was our first opportunity to win some. There were not words that I think he would have used unprompted.
Maybe that shows the "walloping" is about presentation and repetition of ideas, rather than simply just having a negative one.
Of really ? I thought most of my threads were original and have now been copied , the original gets walloped (sorry you own the internet for a spelling error) and others get given credit for thought provoking posts , argh well .

Well I have not seen them on here before ? I get belted (spelt that correctly surely) everytime , lets be honest you do need a panto villain who cant spell corectly and is always prepared to put himself out there , Nige's bus has left for me with his lack of buying quality , I dont want him sacked mind I want it questioned .
No one is calling Villa a lesser club, they're much bigger than us. They've just not got off to a brilliant start and look relatively uninspiring, therefore people are putting them on a similar PERFORMANCE level to us so they become our relegation rivals and a team we should beat.
