    To see Keith Gillespie scamper down the right and cross perfectly for Tino to complete his hat trick was more than even the most optimistic soul dare predict.

    The Catalans were simply overwhelmed by a magnificent effort from the team and delirious supporters and even late goals from Enrique and Figo couldn't tarnish the occasion.

    Was at the match. Probably the best atmoshere of any game I have ever been to in my 54 years of following the Toon. Amazed that the crowd figure was only 35,000 + would have guessed it was up towards the 50,000 region.

    Great game as well as great atmosphere as ebbed back and forth as game progressed and some great football for some great goals by Tino.

    Yeah, talking about this match bringing back memories. My Mam never liked Tino, she thought he fell over too much. She always called him Aspidistra, not sure if she did that out of dislike for him, or whether she could not tell our striker from a large potted plant. Lol, she liked him a bit better after that game though. classic.

    I lived in London at the time,watched it in a pub in Camden,fantastic night.A footnote to that game,was off to Dublin for the weekend next day and who did I bump into in Heathrow,none other than K Dalglish.I ran into a shop and bought the 1st newspaper I could find which happened to be The Times and got Kenny to sign it right across a shot of Tino.Ah those were the days little did I know what would come down the line,still have autograph though
