I don't know. I mean, I questioned Adkins and the Saints from the start of the season. Can they get it done at this level? I think having questions about a manager or the team is quite different from doubting them. I feel like I'm cautious, but not pessimistic. I don't pretend to be an expert so I think that as a fan, by the time I realize Saints are doomed to relegation it will probably be too late to fix it even if Adkins is sacked. That makes me extremely nervous, but there's nothing I can do but trust Adkins for now. And I do feel like he has earned the benefit of the doubt.
Apart from giving the team our full support, there is nothing we can do doomed or not. I think we will be safe with a couple of weeks to go.
Genuine question with no malice intended, I am merely curious. For those that say the Aston Villa game isn't an easy game relative to Premiership standard, then what game is? Surely looking at the remaining 34 games, Villa at home has to sit in the top 5 most winnable fixtures?
there is a split on this forum of people who are always positive people who are negative and then the people who are somewhere between the 2, the one thing i've noticed is that all the positive people are also the most negative, they come on here saying they expect saints to lose certaain games, now don't get me wrong i'm not on here to slate anyone i just think that as saints fans we are entitled to think that our team is good enough to go to everton and get a result and if we want to do anything in this league then we are right to expect us to beat teams like wigan and villa at home. So to all the posters who slate fans opinions on negative results at least these fans criticism's are based on facts where as the positive posters seem to be making excuses for failures by writing off our chances 2 weeks before we even play the fixture.
I think a lot of us who are called 'the positives' are often just more forgiving. We would hope they'd beat every team in the PL, but we don't get angry and personal when they don't. None of the team wanted to lose 6.1 on Saturday, so unless I suspected they weren't trying I wouldn't slate them. It may have been a bad day at the office, but, if some are genuinely not PL players, it isn't their fault. I couldn't play in the PL either. That issue is for NA and NC to sort out.
My point is fran that if those on here are already writing our chances off at everton then where do they expect our points to come from, i agree everton away is a tough fixture but then so is every away fixture in this league, we cant just say cause a fixture is hard we are not surprised when we lose.
All i'm saying jenny is that i'm not a saints fan who goes into a game expecting to lose i am always positve that we can get a result regardless of the oppisition and we have nearly proved that twice this season already. Its the fans who say well i expectied to lose that anyway so we are exactly where i thought we would be in the league after 4 games then they moan about posters being negative when they've been negative from the start
That's what pre season & the transfer market is for isn't it ? when we test our players against good opposition & identify our needs & bring in new players to cover our weak areas. This we failed to do & when we did bring players in it's too late to embed them in the team.
I'm not writing off our chances at Everton but historically they do seem to be a bit of a bogey side for us. Have been to numerous games home and away and don't recall many wins.
Let me help...you are clearly confused. Opinions that people hold here do not reflect the result. Just because some here think that we may not win again - that doesn't filter through to the team and the squad, who I suspect know exactly what they are doing and exactly where they expect the points to come from. In this league, there are 38 games. 19 of them are at home. The concencus of opinion is that you need 40 points to stay up - at 3 points for a win that is about 11 or 12 wins and a few draws. That is where most people expect the points to come from....the HOME games. Points away from home are a bonus and make up for the losses when we play the top teams at St Marys.
I disagree (without being grumpy today!!). Your post allows to see one side backed by facts and ignores the facts of the positive posters... things like: we've played the top three teams plus one. Wigan were the third best form team in the Premier league over the last 12 games of last season; we played well and scored 4 goals against City and United. I've not read a positive poster saying we are going to win the league. I have read positive posters taking stock and remaining calm. I have read some very rash, over the top negative comments displaying doom and gloom though. I like anyone posting a negative slant on a topic as it gives a chance for a debate. I would say that, on the whole, those posting negatively, are posting more negatively than the positive posters are posting positively.
Once and for all, we did not FAIL - the players were not available or didn't want to come to the south coast. Do people here honestly think that the management are not aware of where the team needs strengthening, and sat on their backsides hoping for the best? Honestly, I don't know what they were doing all summer - clearly all they had to do was pop down the premier league football player shop and buy what they needed.
Thats no reason though to say that we can't get a result, i hate calling people positve and negative cause at the end of the day we all want the same thing, my main gripe is fans saying we can't get a result against a team in the same league as us and then using that as their defence when calling another fan negative when they are dissapointed and frestrated with a result.
Is the alternaive to say that we will win every game? Then we'd be told we are happy clappers. Read the "home form" thread and work out how many points you think we will get. Post up there how many points and from which games. It is only guessing.
Football or life isn't like that. There is no test like the real thing. Then it is about how quickly and how well you cope. We coped quite well in three games and badly in one game.
Ok then, let's take the next 10 games. I don't believe we will win them all. I hope we do. What do you think?
I agree the some posts have been way over the top and actually embarrasing, and i try not to get involved in the baiting and reacting that goes on on here pretty much all the time, all i'm saying is that as a saints fan i'm going into our next to games expecting us to get atleast 4 points and if we don't i will be very disapointed, where as there are saints fans on here expecting us to lose at everton so we may as well niot bother going. Saint jenny has already said she only expected 2-4 points after 6 games, my question is why?
I agree we won't win them all, but i won't be on here saying i expect us to lose. You can't win every game but as a fan you should believe its possible to win every game unless there's no point watching.
