She made people's lives hell. You can understand why people hate her and would wish death on her.

In times of crisis like this you have to fall back on your industry and be supported by it. Shame she ****ing sold all ours away driving working class communities into poverty. Will not have a party but it is no loss to this world at all.

Thatcher's stated intention was to smash the unions and she knew that the NUM was the toughest nut- beat them and the rest would be easy. Her and Arthur Scargill were on collision course and neither were willing to back down or even negotiate. Militancy and stubborness on both sides killed industry off. The Aussies went about it a different way and success was achieved by both parties. Have a look at this trailer from UTube and try and get the documentary in full. It all took place roughly during the same time as the miners strike.

You obviously don't understand our political system do you? Since when have the government voted on every decision made? Eh? If that was the case we'd be having referendums coming out of our ears! The only time politicians vote is to pass a bill into law. Do you think Thatcher had a vote on stopping milk in schools or sinking the Belgrano or having bourbons with her tea in cabinet meetings?

What's with all the smileys? Kinda contradicts what your writing and shows what a mug you are. What do get out of coming on this board simply to be contrary? No matter what the topic you'll find an argument and a way to derail the thread. Are you a bit of a cuckold? Does being ridiculed and belittled get you off? Are you wearing your mothers stockings and masturbating in front of the computer?

    Thatcher did that eh?

Not that fact that coal and shipbuilding was offered at much cheaper prices abroad and our industry couldn't compete eh?

Coal mining was a national asset like water, electricity and railways. Plan was to close pits that were losing money but NUM fought against it and called a national strike. Fear was that national assets would then be sold off - as they were eventually were. Who owns water and electricity now?

Ship building was on slide anyway since Japan and other countries had subsidised their industries more heavily than UK. Germany and Scandinavian countries still subsidise their ship builders today. If you could not compete then you died. Or were bumped off.

I was sitting in front of the away fans and I heard the chant all the way through the match but everyone thought they were singing " we've all got plastic hands", it was hilarious.
If I'd known that they were singing about Maggie, I too would have definitely joined them, I think that the whole N.E. of England should be planning a huge celebration when she finally pegs out.
