This gives an idea of the feeling in Spain towards these two clubs <ok>

Yep, Spanish TV is just as bad. Completely ignored this and delayed kick off to show Madrid and Barcelona managers talking. What the <laugh>

If the 18 other clubs got together they could take the 2 giants down. It will happen one day.

  5. But the other two clubs bring in the vast majority of the income so it will be difficult to actually do. The eighteen would have to agree to a plan of cutting costs etc prior to acting on Real and Barca.

Delay a game to watch interviews is ridiculous though <ok>

I wouldnt say they had to cut costs but present a case that if the two big clubs dont stop monopolising the money coming into the league they will break away and form their own league. What are Barcelona and Real Madrid or the Spanish FA going to do about it?

We are not talking about ****ing Hearts or some other no mark Scottish club. These are well supported, quality football clubs being killed off because their league is so unfair the only way to compete is to risk your existence.

  7. Didn't the eighteen threaten to break away in the summer...? And didn't Real and Barca just (basically) laugh at them...?

I realise there are good sides in the league but those two are the be all and end all of that league when it comes to TV deals. It would be like taking Man Utd and Liverpool (as **** as we are) out of the Premier League!

The money would still be there though and split just as it is now. Difference is United and Liverpool wouldnt get a 50% share just for being United and Liverpool as is what happens in Spain.

I dont know if they did but Barcelona and Real Madrid wouldnt exist for very long if the other 18 sides did break away so by laughing they are effectively laughing at their own demise should it happen.

I dont even think the other clubs would gain much financially at first but in time they would have massive gains. If their situation doesnt get better I dont see them having much choice.

  9. Wasn't there similar arguments not too long ago in England about the splitting of the foreign TV money? I know Liverpool were vocal about it saying that more people want to watch Man Utd and Liverpool than say WBA or Wigan etc. It is a disrespectful view but also a true statement. Of course, the same applies here as in Spain, Liverpool and Man Utd need each other and the other eighteen teams to be able to survive <ok>

    Yep.

The best example to look at for hat can happen when 2 sides get everything and the other sides in the country get nothing is good old Scotland.

Once a league that people didnt laugh at ( much ). Now considered part of a stand up comics routine and nothing more. So poor as a league that one side killed itself.

  11. Ironically, that side that killed it self will be better for it in three or four years time <ok>

Said this to my Celtic supporting mate when it happened and at first he disagreed but over time hes come to realise that Celtic have no competition at all anymore. They can effectively play in 2nd gear and walk the SPL. When they come up against teams in Europe an get obliterated they will see how it has effected them. Also the SPL gets almost no TV income as it is, that will half now ( what is half of nothing <laugh> ).

Its not entirely unlikely that in 10 years La Liga is very much the same as the SPL has become. A wasteland of football.

  13. Plus the top players at Celtic will move on because there is no challenge. In time (not too long) the Scottish European places will be compromised too. It will become a less attractive but more competitive league IMO. I can't see Celtic moving into the English leagues without Rangers and that certainly isn't going to happen anytime soon because of Rangers' position. By the time they get back to the SPL, Celtic won't be as good, the league will be weakened and neither team will be good enough to enter the Championship, never mind the Premier League!

Barca for me, I lived there for 7 years and only moved back to England last year, went at least once a month to the camp nou. Seen some amazing players, ronaldinho was without doubt my favorite closely followed by abidal.

Without doubt my favorite match waes th bellamy & riise inspired victory in their back yard, with all my Catalan mates who were ribbing me loads prior to the match...priceless, still get a rise out them even though they beenon another level for sometime.

Back on Celtic... it won't/can't last. One team at the top is not stable. Celtic will fall or, more likely, another will rise. A large number of fans (and fans money) will eventually get behind who ever is Celtic's nearest rival- and they will emerge as the "new Rangers". Will take a few years... but I've never seen any sport, any league where one team/player went completely dominant for long without a rival building steam. Celtic won't be alone at the top for long.

You lot don't half talk ****e. If you want to know what Celtic fans think about what's happening up in Scotland, have a look on the Celtic board.

Don't just make stuff up <doh>

    Interesting POV.

It would be good for Scottish football if over the next 5 seasons a new challenger emerges to challenge for the title. Even 2 sides so that when Rangers eventually get back to the SPL it doesnt quickly become a 2 team league again.

Another scottish team winning the SPL, getting a chance to play in the CL ( getting to the group stage would be worth £30million, probably 1000 years worth of income for some SPL sides <laugh> ) and investing wisely could change things in Scotland.
