In my opinion, young Jack Colback gets better by every game,no matter what position he plays.Man of the match for Sunderland today,in my opinion. We have played better than we played today, but,I think it was always going to be difficult today, considering what has happened over the lies of 23 years ago,and how that must have helped motivate Liverpool today.Let's move on to the future,as it is so positive with the likes of Jack Colback,Lee Cattermole and Adam Johnson all being local lads.We don't need to bring in foreign cheats like Suarez!!!
Colback was food at the back, at stealing the ball, breaking up play etc however he goes to bits if he gets to the final third of the pitch. He and Cattermole do a good job defensively but until sess fires and Johnson gets a run we are not going to get many
If he had the same composure in the final third as he did in the rest of the pitch he would be dynamite but he had a great opportunity to put us 2 up just before the break but went to pieces in the crucial moments. That said, he is coming on leaps and bounds since he was a fresh faced kid 2 years ago and has a really good future in the game.
Colbacks one of the most under rated players in the league IMO. How he never got called up for the Olympics and has never featured for England U21's is a joke. Pearce is a nob!!
Brilliant player. Had a full pre season and it's really showing, this is compared to some of the other players who aren't in good form and it's really starting to show with a lot of our attaching players out of form/fitness
Sure I saw Pearce there today - hopefully he was taking notice - especially when Colback superbly turned Gerrard and then got penalised - presumably for his audacity in showing up the England captain
I believe we will struggle to hold onto the lad in a couple of years time. Bigger teams than us will see his energy, his tackling etc and try to tempt him away. Will be a tremendous player for years to come.
Big fan of Collback but I have started to find him frustrating recently. His general passing and interceptions etc are class. But you see him get the ball, he will leg it down the pitch take it beyond opposition players. Then he hesitates and tends to loose possession. Think MoN needs to get him practicing shooting.
Catts and Colback for me done a good job yesterday but if we want to keep improving then sooner or later we will see a new central midfielder Catts and Colback have the graft and the defensive play but they have no creative side to there game we need a balance and I hope MoN is looking for a top class CM for January
You can see him improving with every game it'll be interesting to see how good he gets - I think we'll be able to hold onto him unless he somehow morphes into a ginger Messi
Jack is on the rise and I look forward to watching him grow into the quality player that I expect him to be but I agree that playing both him and Catts is strong but not creative enough. Lets hope Jack can add that to his game.
He performs well at left back but what does he offer in central midfield? He never tackles, he's not a defensive mid nor an attacking mid, the game passes him by and his forward passing is atrocious. He is always weak and easily pushed around. One of our main issues is our inability to win the midfield battle and this hurts us dearly. Colback is a big reason for this. He's a bottom half performer at best in the centre mid. It pains me to see so many fans rate him there because 'he's neat and tidy' but actually does very little else. We need a Dembele, Fellaini, Adam, Cabaye etc alongside Catt's. Someone who can create goals, score them and isn't afraid of a tackle. Until we get that we will stagnate in mid table obscurity. Colback is not the answer people!
