Hit the nail on the head, you had the extra quality and game changers on the bench. Soon as Rosco went off injured we became so one dimensional. Bellamy is by far the best player in this division when he's fit, you're lucky he plays for you!
This is the first year that Cardiff have had any money to spend. Last year's effort was a fine one but they didn't spend much. THe previous year was full of loan signings. The idea that Cardiff are a big spending side is, until now, not accurate. The same cannot be said of Leicester. Also, 'perennial underachievers' is wrong. There wasn't a realistic Cardiff fan who expected anything other than mid-table mediocrity last year. The fact that we pushed for promotion with limited resources was a testament to Mackay's skills as a manager. This year, with more to spend, I think he's going to do it. When this team gels, they're going to be formidable. We should have put five past you today but your tubby goalie kept you in it. BAtes is smothering your club, is in it for his own ends and is an utter disgrace of a chairman. I almost feel for you. Great noise and suppost from your fans today. It was good to be able to silence you... for a buit at least.
the extra quality counted today, you cannot legislate for our two goals, a wonder strike, and moment of defensive naivety which gifted us a goal. apart from that the leeds crowd was very quiet for some reason, last fixture here they were full of passion and noise, where were the knights?
they weren't quiet from where I was sitting... a bit by their standards I suppose. But then they did lose.
watched the game live over the Internet.and the Leeds fans were the much louder for 80mins,first time I've heard a dive called defensive naivety.Best team won but the refs lack of courage in not sending at least 1 of your players off changed the game.
i had a clear view of the incident, maynard did what all clever strikers do and got himself in between ball and defender, the defender clattered into him, thats as clear a penalty as you will see..... leeds fans were very quiet overall, though the result and lack of any performance from your team probably had something to do with it. there is precious little quality in that leeds team and for all warnocks nous and experience there is only so far you can take a team.... i predicted promotion for leeds at the start of the season but thats starting to look a pipe dream atm......
it was not a case of 'poor performance' elland, just that those players out there to me arent up to the job of play offs or promotion. bearing in mind i'm judging you on one performance, it looks like you have a workmanlike team..... we were workmanlike last year and it got us to 6th though....
Varneys **** rest are good but squads not promotions standard! Cardiff alrhough had a lot of possession rarely challenger n had to resort to long range n set pieces thought the defence was solid, becchio Varney n diouf to blame today! McCormack stays on n it's a different game IMO
Change your internet conection as it seems faulty ...... should have been at least 4-1 to the mighty Cardiff but your fat keeper had a very good game today and kept you in it ,the difference in class was there to be seen tho .
It does make me laugh when people call paddy kenny fat, there isnt an ounce of fat on him, he's in great shape and one of our best signings in years
Yes they were the better team in the second half but lets look at the goals they scored, one was a wonder free kick from bellamy, he will rarely score anything like that again, the other was a penalty from a blatant dive. So we weren’t actually beaten that badly, especially considering it was an away ground, at a known bogie team. I think we will still stay within touching distance of the play-offs by January, and we’ll just have to hope we have new owners by then
Alright, seems a lot of people want to know how we played and given the fact I got to watch it live in Aus, I'll give some match ratings (I was very very pissed by the way so I have probably forgotten huge portions of the game) Kenny - 8 - didn't have to do much in the first half at all really apart from a small lapse in concentration early on from a noone cross that almost went in the back of the net but he was fantastic in the second half. Made some very good saves and not only that held onto most of them as well which is rare to see a keeper do from those type of shots Peltier - 7 - A reasonable performance, Nothing really got past him actually, won most headers in his direction. My main concern with him was that he wasn't really getting forward other than for long throw-ins into the box. The one time he did get forward he nearly scored which was late on Lees - 6 - Won a lot of headers actually and I thought defended quite well apart from a couple of small errors. I do not blame him whatsoever for the penalty as Maynard clearly dived in my eyes. Not that I thought we deserved the win but for him to run into Lees and fall over and get a penalty is disgraceful on the ref's part. Pearce - 7 - Pretty much the same as Lees, he actually looks like a captain to me, more so than peltier. He often went over to players and calmed down and looked very vocal. Again won a lot of headers, Helguson was a handful without doing too much in the way of threat though so I think Pearce did well Drury - 6 1/2 - Defended well when he was on the pitch, defended better than white I thought and him coming off IMO was the reason they were breaking through the defence a lot easier. He did play a hell of a lot of long balls as the whole defence did really but him especially. On the odd occasion he did put a cross in it was good and we should try to use that more in future Byram - 6 - Very good early on but didn't do much after around the 30 mins mark. Ended up defending more than anything which was frustrating that we couldn't use him more in this game, looked as though he was getting past their LB rather easily and Taylor was just fouling him to deal with it. Everytime I have seen him I think he looks a good prospect but is not there yet and I stick by that, still think he needs a season long loan Tonge - 4 - Non-existant. Was very rarely on the ball and was very rarely making decent tackles. He gave away the free-kick for their goal needlessly when Lees had already won the ball, I woulda probably preferred to see Thompson or Pugh in his place to be honest. If he is starting next game I think improvement is a must. I'm very surprised Warnock didn't take him off at half time Austin - 8 1/2 - Our man of the match by far. Won every tackle he was in, all over the pitch, won every header. His goal was quite far out and it was just a bullet, went straight through the wall and straight through the keeper, such a powerful shot. Very similar to the one he scored against the USA. To think this guy only got back thursday/friday and then to put in that performance. Such a great buy, my only criticism of him was that on the ball he often played long balls to nowhere, although I think this was more an issue upfront with no one ever showing for the ball White - 4 - Gave nothing. Didn't cause any problems going forward other than a decent cross late on which resulted in the keepers arms anyway. And then was moved to LB which he was quickly discovered as the weak link and Austin was covering him constantly Becchio - 4 - Got no service in fairness but didn't look for the ball enough Varney - 4 - Same as Becchio although he won a few headers but nothing of any substance Diouf - 5 - didn't do too much but then he was able to at least retain the ball when given it Poleon - 5 - didn't get much time at all but kept shape better than Varney did and kept the move going as well Warnock - 3 - His tactics are **** and play **** football. If we had attacked rather than sat back we coulda won that game. They didn't look very good defensively but we didn't test them, I also hate long balls or at least every single time we get the ball. I can't remember a leeds team that plays this **** before, we have nothing going forward whatsoever
Josh Warnock will be getting a lot of 3s then because that's him hoofball all day long, the cms will always look poor when they get cut out by our own defenders every time! I thought on the ball tonge was very good and if our strikers would've managed to hold the ball up he would be an asset I've seen a lot of harsh reviews on him but he's the opposite of Austin which we need, technically a good footballer with great vision but doesn't get stuck in opposite to Austin
Tommy smiths flying lunge was a red n the peno was not a peno you had **** loads of possession and spent most of the second half in our half yet offered no real threat just long range efforts n set pieces! Cardiff yesterday is the worst Cardiff side I've seen since we got back into the champs must be the red
