Abysmal tactics from Hughes, poor team selection, poor individual performances and playing against a better group of footballers with their tails up.
fair enough. Your players did seem nervous to me though from the start. But if you are in a relegation battle and playing your hated rivals I guess you would be.
In fairness it's a bit like what many managers have said. If you go a goal down at Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford you haven't got a chance.
Just so you know not all Rangers fans are blinded by this muppet's ego. Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly like John Terry but the fact is, he's not our player so I don't care what he does or who he does it to. But Ferdinand, as a QPR player, has been an embarrassment from the moment this whole thing started. Now he's refusing to shake Cole's hand, he's making himself look more like a self-obsessed twat than ever before. I can't stand him. Or his brother. Plus the minor detail that he happens to be a sh*t footballer too.
Not a single post here has any understanding of this issue at all. To elevate football tribalism above racial discourse is a very sad state of affairs and you really should be attending to your own opinions before criticising a person actually involved. As a player, JT has been an excellent servant for Chelsea, as an Ambassador ...? have a day off ! Every one of you knows exactly the kind of bloke he is. I do agree however, that the hand shake should be scrapped, as to encourage children to display such hypocrisy is of no use at all.
Does anyone but the press actually care if these guys shake hands? the whole thing has been blown out of proportion by the media, it's what they do! I can't wait for the game so we can get back to business and play football! Torres for a hat-trick
The best scenario would be nobody shaking anyone else's hand. Just two lines of players walking past each other, glaring, making a mockery of the whole thing.
Watched the handshake again and it looks more like Cole snubbing Ferdinand then other way round. Also, Luiz refuses to shake his hand as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU5Rei52qd8
So if thats the case then why are all the chelsea fans slagging Anton off for not shaking hands when Luiz and Cole also didn't???
Luiz is probably just racting to what Ferdinand did to JT. Cole, well obviously their relationship has soured. Bear in mind that's my interpretation of one bit of video, I can't say for certain who is snubbing who. Hell, could both be snubbing for all I know.
Anton is just bitter caus he didnt get his own way. Played the race card but didnt work which is unusual these days.Well done Ashley Cole, looked pretty cool ignoring him .
That's a very stupid comment To me, there is one person at the centre of this who could have done something noble and proved himself worthy of the England and Chelsea caps, as well as the previous efforts to wear the armband. All Terry had to do was give Anton a ring, and say "I'm very sorry it appeared like that, I definitely didn't intend to portray myself in this light, and I look an absolute berk. I went too far." Obviously, with the court case looming, it was impossible to admit he had said anything racist, but he's yelled something abusive (whether or not it was racist, the court couldn't find enough evidence of guilt so that's good enough for me) and it's unnecessary on the football pitch. I realise Anton had apparently been winding him up about the affair issue, and that isn't on either, but the retaliation was worse. That way, in my opinion, this thread wouldn't have existed and this issue wouldn't have existed at all. No point making a villain out of Anton. Not sure why people even think of him as a "bell-end", he's not really done anything in the media spot-light, his brother on the other hand might be a different matter... I do admit to liking the handshake before a game, I just feel the professional element of the game has diverged from any semblance of sportsmanship, which is sad for football, in my opinion.
Terry made the effort to see Ferdinand after the game to clear up any suggestion that he had made racial remarks directly at him. But why an apology just from Terry? Why not Anton also saying, 'sorry my sledging went too far'? It's all bullshit.
