New league, new players, new challenge....need for new manager? Not yet....only 4 games in and 3 against the top 4....I amongst many others will not be hitting the panic button just yet,Nigel will put it right...starting against Villa.
Equally Joe for sure.........You don't have to reply though do you no one is forcing you to reply..... he could just be ignored.......
First caller on BBC606 wants Adkins sacked after 4 games and should apparently pick a manager of experience such as Hoddle or Redknapp...
Under the Cortese and Adkins combo, you've gained 2 divisions in 2 years. I think he deserves more than 4 games.
Don't worry Kyle. It is only a few idiots who seriously think that it is time for a change in management.
If Cortese does sack Adkins even if we ge5t relegated then I will doubt the man. Who will we get next? Allardyce? Redknapp? Keegan? Dalglish? Would they be an improvement? Do we want to play good football and work our way up (even if it we take a dip on the way) or do we want a manager that helps us to just survive year on year playing poor football for the 20% we have possession or do we want to play it on the ground, have 50-50 (or close to) possession and be proud that we play football attractively? I would hate us to be a Stoke. Been there done that and the last 2 years were much better than when we used to do that. We are no Blackpool. They had good attacking threat but it was like the Harry Enfield sketch with 10 players chasing the same ball. We have intelligent players just lacking a little in the way of a co-hesive defence. That wil be sorted in January one way or the other.
I think when someone is clearly talking out of their backside though, we would be failing as righteous followers of the noble cause not to at least point him to the path or righteousness? Clearly he is someone in a need of a lot of help - I was never a girl to avoid helping someone
I don't listen to stuff like that because I fear my IQ could drop just from listening, but I do sometimes want to phone up just to lambast callers who say rubbish like that.
"Ultimately, this is the reality of building a very young, very talented team: they're going to win some in spectacular fashion, and they're going to lose some in spectacular fashion. But I'd much rather than we followed the path that we're following -- putting together a group of players who have the potential to do much, much more than survive over the next few years -- and took on the inherent risks, rather than building merely to stick around. Swansea is a great example; they came up with ambition, they stayed up with ambition, and because of that ambition they've achieved a rare feat for a second-year team in replacing a good manager and good footballers with (potentially) an even better manager and better footballers. As a result, they very much appear a club that won't have to worry about relegation for some time, and they could have their eye on the top half of the table for some time." I hope Schad doesn't mind, but this is a comment he posted after the Manure defeat, it describes perfectly the position that we are in, we have a young, talented squad that is still learning together....patience from everyone is required and the results will surely come.
BS. Well played that man, although he did mention his name earlier! Jenny, I'm a mod, so I know who's who on the Pompey board, and anyone that visits for tea and cakes if they like. Qwerty, the only time I was on the radio, was when they read out one of my cricket posts on Radio Sussex. I have yet to meet anyone who heard it.
Ridiculous !!!! Those judging Adkins after FOUR games are silly, I understand that when we get beat it's nice to vent. But this is the same man that has got us here, allowing our lads to play against some of the greatest players in the greatest league. The first words I uttered upon the final score were " Bring on Villa " true story COYR
