A brilliant read, thank you for that probaly wouldn't have come across it otherwise.

I find it embarrasing that we have ever had fans sing about Hillsborough. What i really hate is how we stereotype opposing fans when its clear every team has a group of idiots who embarrass everyone else.

I bumped into a couple of Utd supporters on the kop the week after the disaster when the kop was adorned with the colours of many clubs colours and they were worried about being on the kop because they were Utd supporters, i said you are here to show your respect and sympathy and you're welcome(the LFC-MUFC relationship among supporters was worse then than now), they tied their club scarves to the barrier where i used to stand and we chatted and shook hands when they went their way.

Those lads actually made the effort to make their way from Manchester to Anfield despite the **** that was going on between us and Utd supporters.

I swear this story is true.

 

I emigrated from M/cr to Cyprus 10 years ago.
Just before the 20th anniversary of Hillsborough i read on an ex-pat forum that a number of Lfc supporters were going to be holding a remembrance ceremony at Pafos harbour.
I contacted the organisers and explained that although i supported Utd i wished to pay my respects to fellow football fans. They said they were happy for supporters of any club to attend and to wear our own club colours.
Apart from the large number of Lfc shirts, there were shirts from numerous clubs inc, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Blackburn, Wigan amongst others. I was the only supporter with a Utd shirt and i`m not certain whether for that reason or not but all the Lfc supporters seemed to take the time to come over shake my hand and have a chat.

 

Group hug anyone??

They are also going to have to cut out the ''Murderers''' and ''always the victims, its never your fault'' and the ''we did it without killing anyone'' chants.

Unless that happens, expect a small minority of Liverpool fans to retaliate with Munich taunts.

 

The list of stuff Liverpool fans did before Heysel or Hillsborough is long, very very long. From all of anfield singing munich songs to singing songs about it at SOS meetings. Banners referring to munich in Heysel etc etc.

All we can hope for is for once everyone is the bigger man and all of the above, all of the ****e, the hatred can be put aside, even if only for a few moments to remember the 96 who lost their lives.
