Millwall Millwall will travel up to the KC on Saturday, maybe exceeding expectations amongst most of the League's fans so far with 2 wins and 2 losses. The most recent being a 3 - 1 win against an out of sorts Middlesbrough side. They finished last Season in 'Promotion Form' with 6 games unbeaten, within which, 5 of those fixtures being wins. This Season, they have looked to have brought some of last Season's momentum with them, despite a cup exit to the ever infamous Crawley Town. The losses to a very creative and attacking Blackpool side 2 - 0 on the opening game of the Season and a harsh 3 - 2 loss to fellow Yorkshiremen Sheffield Wednesday. Millwall have been very potent in attack and bring a deserving threat especially with talisman Darius Henderson and Strike partner Andrew Keogh. A tough test for the 3 - 5 - 2 system which Steve Bruce imposes into the Tigers and the Millwall fans won't be coming to the KC aiming for anything less than a draw. James Henry and Liam Trotter will be very big threats too, but nothing should be hot to handle for the City midfield. Hull City The Tigers host Millwall, boasting a current 100% home record following consecutive wins against two strong sides in Brighton and Bolton. Disappointing results at both the Chicken farm of Blackburn and strong starters Charlton, saw the Tigers achieve only 1 point from 2 away games. After 4 games however, the team Steve Bruce has moulded seems to be coming together quite nicely and City are starting to play a vibrant brand of football which was seen at both the latter stages of the Charlton game and pretty much the whole match against pre season promotion favourites Bolton. New signings Ahmed Elmohammedy and Stephen Quinn have given the Tigers that extra flurry of energy and attacking prowess to help boost the "Goals Scored" column which the Club so desperately needs. Seyi Olofinjana has all of a sudden come back into the Hull City picture and gives a strong, dominant presence in the middle of the pitch and added to the height of Abdoulaye Faye, City have now become more of a threat from set pieces! Sone Aluko looks to be the talisman for City this Season with his never ending desire to get the ball into the oppositions third and really get at the oppositions defence. Analysis The Circle isn't usually a happy place for Millwall and vice versa for the Tigers. Both squads have majorly improved from this time Last Season and both will look to build on their final positions from last year too. Another scrappy game in midfield should be controlled with ease by the City midfielders with the ever reliant defensive back line staying strong. Should the Tigers have their gaming heads on and keep their momentum from the Bolton game going, it should be a comfortable home win. Millwall may be buoyed by their 3 - 1 win over the Middlesbrough lads, but City just look to be too strong a side to allow Millwall too many chances. Predicted Outcome Comfortable home win. Key Players Hull City: Stephen Quinn, Sone Aluko, James Chester Millwall: Darius Henderson, Andy Keogh, Liam Trotter This is the first time I've done this, and I thought I would do it this one time to see if everyone thought it was worth while and whether or not I should do it for the other matches too? Feedback would be much appreciated lads
Excellent, Well written piece. I agree with your comments about Andrew Keogh, dangerous player on his day.
Yes it's a very insightful piece and would be useful prior to our matches for those of us who don't live in Hull. It's good for us to be able to get a real sense of how well the team is really doing and how they will fare against our next opposition. However, I do hold reservations over whether it will be a comfortable home win, but then again we never know what to expect being a Tigers fan!
Seconded. Agreed. If Hull City play anywhere near as well as they did against Bolton then Millwall will be put the sword. Its a big week coming up with TWS and Lesta close aftewards. Fingers crossed for a 9 point week.
5 as a minimum but aim higher. TWS are missing 3 key midfield players on tuesday. Michael Brown - Paul Green - David Norris. So a win @ Leeds is very much on the cards then that just leaves Pearsons Final fling....maybe ?? +++++++ O/T No need to start a new thread but North Ferriby Utd have drawn Ossett Albion in the 2nd Qualifying round of the FA Cup and the game is on saturday 22nd sept ko.3pm the day before Leicester City away. I was planning to go and watch Sonny Bradley as Accrington are @ home to Aldershot that day but will stay local now and enjoy some more Ferriby pies. Yum Yum.
I will try my best for you lads. It just came across as a good idea as some people don't like the BBC and Sky Sports previews so I thought I'd put what insight and knowledge I have into it. I keep up with the Championship and can write as much as I can. I'll be doing one for Leeds too then Cheers for the opinions lads.
Yep good post. Keep it up. I like Trotter for them, surprised he didnt leave. Will be interesting to see him up against Oli.
I'd tried to keep it as unbiased as I could. Looking back at it, I maybe should have just predicted a home win, rather than a comfortable home win but it's my first one so I'll let myself off! Thanks for all the feedback lads, much appreciated, now I know it was worth while, I'll continue to do it from now on.
Exactly, I'd rather read something like this by someone who's knowledgeable and passionate than the crap on the BBC site! I will look forward to reading them, keep up the good work!
