I wouldn't read too much into this. They are probably just the first lot and Dyer will follow soon.

I think the board want to negotiate contract extensions for players considered intrinsic or vital to our club. I think a lot of this is down to the players positions as great goalies, left-backs, centre-backs are like gold dust.

Vorm, Williams, Taylor are exceptional players and very important to us, almost irreplaceable. Add to this the scarcity of adequate replacements in their positions and the detrimental effect it would have on our club if they did leave us then maybe its no wonder these are the players currently in renewal talks.

I'm sure I read somewhere Dyers' contract runs to the end of 2013/14 season, so, after this phase of contract negotiations, I assume Dyer will be top of the next list of key players we want to keep.

One for the conspiracy theorist. Brendan "I live in a bubble" Rogers has shown interest in all these players so maybe the board and HJ are hedging their bets in readiness for the Jan transfer window.

So it's true what I heard form a friend of a friend who overheard someone who knows someone at the club. So all are off in Jan? That should be a cool 30-40m.

UPDATE: to the usual suspects - file the above under humor, and don't take as seriously as you take some other comments. It's sad that I even have to add this disclaimer, but not enough humour on this board at the moment.

The sooner we can get these players tied to s the better. They are a major part of our squad. Mind you on a negative note, what do contracts mean these days.

That's what I was going to stay. Better they leave with 4 years remaining than a year remaining, as the buying club has to pay more to buy out the contract.

It will be interesting who will and who wont sign extensions to their contract. there are pro's and con's the player has to weigh up......

I wonder if this is designed to alter any buy out clauses in their contracts too...?

If a buy out clause is already there then I very much doubt any player will let the club take that away, They will more than likely insist one be put into their contracts if they dont have one if they are willing to sign that is.....<ok>

It will be good to renew contracts, I suspect one of the reasons as well as tying down a player to new terms, it's to circumvent Brendan from triggering release clauses he knows about with players. I should imagine all players we want to keep will get new contracts .

valley that wont stop any manager from knowing anyone's buy out clause as the players agents will pass on that information anyway.....

The point being is that Brendan has used inside information for the release clause. If an agent releases information and he is found out he could lose his licence to be an agent.

Anyone trying to fly under the radar next summer , with a year left on their contract , will be given a quick opportunity to extend before the season starts or will be sold quick before the season starts ( or a few games in ) ... no exceptions IMO . A smooth operating business & a good scouting system have been a lethal combo at Swansea .... gems move in , expensive players move out .

Of course, but everything is negotiable. We nearly lost Taylor last season to a 1 million buy out clause, do you really think his new contract will be inclusive of such a small buy out clause for a key player??

Luckily Taylor made the choice to stay with us.

Indeed Stumpy, that was a lucky escape, and I'm sure lessons learned from that scare may have led to Allen's buy out clause being so substantial. This is why I think new contracts signed will also have a substantial buy out clause, and rightly so
