Hello guys. Norwich fan in Peace. Well done on a very impressive start to the new season.

I was very envious when you managed to snap up Rory Donnelly. Where is he? Is he on the fringes? Is he doing well in the reserves? Has he had a chance at first team? What do you fans think of him? Seems strange that he's not even on the bench for the cup game (unless he is injured) Just wondered if he's the player the hype says, or if hes not up to this level. I remember Liverpool and Everton fighting for him.

    Regards

    Neil

I'd like to see more of him and Laudrup likes bringing the young ones through so something must be up with his development, I'm sure someone here has the inside line...

I was expecting him to do a bit of a James McClean!

He very nearly signed for Liverpool, but came to Swansea because of Brendan Rodgers (to some degree). Now BR is at Liverpool and RD is stuck here.

I wonder what his state of mind is.

Yea...In my opinion, he probably wasn't as developed as first thought. Obviously he has a huge amount of talent, but It seems to be taking longer to hone and develop before he gets close to first team...Maybe any cup games later on this season.

If Liverpool make a bid of £23.9 million for him we may consider a sale <laugh>

Most fans would want to turn it down because they don't want BR buying any of our players, even if he pays over the odds.

This is a thread about a Swans player and his progression, not about Brendan Rodgers or Liverpool.

Pack the digs in and stop derailing threads

Same boat as Darnel Situ I fear. Situ was considered the best centre back of his generation in France, captaining all their youth teams, he signs for us, we can't get the paperwork done in time and his development has now stalled.

I'm worried our Youth and reserve development is not as good as it needs to be. Doesn't help that we're now playing in the 3rd tier of the new Under21 League structure! We are facing up against Barnet's Under 21 team rather than Man City's.... :s

Donnelly is now slightly further away from game time as we have just signed Preston's very promising forward Jamie Proctor (himself a promising England Youth player.) I really hope we're not signing these excellent prospects and ruining their progress. I say, get them out on loan to League 1/championship sharpish as I doubt games against Brentford's U21 team are doing them much good.

Thing is we can't put these u21s on loan otherwise we won't be able to compete in the new league. How a premier league team is in the third tier I haven't been able to determine why we are there.

Watched him a lot last season and despite people saying he is commng on. He has been quite poor and the club are disappointed with his progress. Still looks very lightweight and his first touch is ok. Dont expect him to be anywhere near a first team game this year. Should have been sent out on loan to a league 1/2 club to bring him on, instead of playing in this nonsense u21 league. imo

Is it something to do with how your youth facilities are graded?

I never understood the switch from reserve league to U21 to be honest. Why don't we just play the U21s in the reserves league? Surely that would develop them into first team players quicker.

There is no reserve league. it has changed to the under 21's. clubs are allowed to play 3 over 21's. To clarify of all the reserve games i watched last season. we were already watching an under 21 league. Just that we were playing better quality teams.

Oh right. I thought we just opted out of playing in the reserves league not that it had been scrapped by the Premiership.

I think the rule change is forcing clubs to start playing U21s and bring young talent through.

Wow, Casual/ Shanghai. You really have a low opinion of "most fans" don't you? Try keeping it to yourself rather than trying to score points and your views might be better received.
