Rumoured to be around a million people at the parade, only wish I could have gone. Every athlete winner or not deserves our respect, it has been a amazing month. Congrats to all of them
The whole Olympics and Paralympics thing has been one of the most inspirational and memorable few weeks in my life. And not just for the sporting achievements either, the gamesmakers have been fantastic too.
An amazing Olympics and Paras. The best ever, as has actually been acknowledged by other countries too. I thought Boris Johnson's speech was very funny, and it caught the spirit and the public imagination of this sporting summer. And I'm not a Boris Johnson supporter either. Anyone who thinks that sport doesn't have a role in everyday life [I have plenty of friends who think in that way] needs to looks at how inspirational it can be. EDIT: Visor opened and beam at full power in celebration..!
My dear mother was a gamesmaker at the basketball arena for the Olympics. Would've loved to do the Para's too but she couldn't wangle the time off. She was up there yesterday and said how amazing it was. A group of them (gamesmakers) stopped to have a group photo with 'Wenlock' one of the mascots. This turned into a photo session with people coming over and taking photos and thanking them. She said that she couldn't read the paper on the train going up and down due to people wanting to come over and chat. So, well done to the gamesmakers, and well done to everyone who recognises their input.
Brilliant time from the start of the Torch right through until yesterday. Met a lot of the athletes yesterady and they are completely down to earth. Several asking where the nearest bus stop or tube station were. Very inspirational peole and excellent role models. That said I particularly enjoyed meeting Denise Lewis!
