Source: Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...elp-address-their-recent-injury-problems.html The facility is expected to fast-track Sir Alex Ferguson’s players back to fitness and ensure quicker, and more private, injury diagnosis on site rather than rely on nearby hospitals. The medical centre, which will be supplied with CT and MRI scanners and other cutting-edge equipment as part of a five-year agreement with the Japanese company Toshiba, is set to be the first of its kind in the Premier League, with Manchester United planning to emulate the physiological and sports science benefits enjoyed by AC Milan at their world-renowned Milanello complex. Research carried out at the end of last season by the sports injury website physioroom.com showed that United suffered the worst injury list in the Premier League during the 2011-12 campaign, with the club suffering 39 significant problems – those lasting for at least two weeks – which amounted to a total 1,681 days lost to injury by Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad. In comparison, champions Manchester City suffered just seven significant injuries, costing Roberto Mancini’s squad a total of 186 days lost to injury. United manager Ferguson issued a staunch defence of the club’s medical team last season following criticism from former midfielder Owen Hargreaves over his treatment during lengthy injury problems, with the Scot insisting “some of the best sports medical staff in world sport” are employed at Old Trafford. But with United believing the club has now outgrown the existing medical facilities at Carrington, which opened in July 2000, plans were drawn and approved last year to build the new complex.United have cited the rapid advancements in sports science and medicine and Ferguson’s demand for the club to possess a competitive advantage in the field of rehabilitation and fitness as the justification for the medical centre. Having targeted an opening date at the end of 2012 for the centre, United are now planning for it to open its doors in two months. Meanwhile, United have completed the £4 million signing of Chilean forward Ãngelo HenrÃquez from Universidad de Chile after receiving international clearance for the 18-year-old.HenrÃquez underwent a medical last month and agreed personal terms, but United have been forced to wait for red tape to be cleared before finalising the signing. We have had a lot of bad luck with injuries recently so hopefully this new medical centre will help towards reducing injuries and get players back to fitness as soon as possible after an injury.
I remember reading a tweet from Raymond Verheijen blasting united because of their injury record and training procedure. this will shut the moaning, whinging ****er up
He mouths off about everything. Seems to have some chip on his shoulder - he was chatting about England when we got a couple of players injured in Euro 2012 warm up matches. He's the Michael Owen of coaching staff - spends far more time gobbing off than doing his job. I wonder if our summer signings were a direct cause of the medical centre opening being brought forwards? I can see RVP making it a condition of signing the contract...
He was Gary Speed's assistant at Wales. He was the guy who caused the outcry over saying Gary Speed wanted him to have the Welsh job after few weeks after Speed had died. He's currently the assistant manager to the Armenian national side.
Swarbs! I was wondering how long it would be before someone mention RVP in this thread... My money was on Bazray or one of the Chelsea guys though!
He does seem to have quite an ego on him. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/eu...ning-regime-criticised-Raymond-Verheijen.html http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...-blast-from-raymond-verheijen-91466-31432648/ http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...nchester-city-coach-raymond-verheijen-attacks
Pity Hargreaves left, the experimenting could have gone on there. This was this plan please log in to view this image but as it turned out he had 3 dodgy knees and so went to City
