According to The People we're getting Jermaine Jenas on loan from Spurs. Personally I think that will be a quality signing - if it actually happens
This seems too good to be true, and as it's in The People it probably is. I'd assume we could afford to contribute £10k pw towards his wages.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-are-willing-to-let-jermaine-jenas-leave-1314476 I have to admit I thought this was a wind up, but it is on the Mirrors site. Welcome to the forum RW...
I hope this is true but can't see why he would want to move down to championship, surely there are premier league clubs who would want him, he is a quality player when not injured
Spurs want to get him fit (where have we heard that before) so will probably pay most of his wages. Good player at this level i f he performs.
He'll be like Delph, McCartney, McSheffrey or any of the others, I reckon. Loanees don't give a **** about how well they play. It's not the incentive to get in their own team that people say it is. These people are already well out of the matchday squad picture. All they want is fitness, and that comes to the detriment of the team they play for. I know we've got to try, and on his day, Jenas is exactly the sort of player we need. But even if this unlikely loan deal does happen, don't expect things of him.
Agree with what jerel says, but our squad is paper thin and lacking in quality. If we could get Jenas on heavily subsidised wages, it would have to be worth the gamble. Even at 75% he'd easily be better than old pughy wouldnt he!
Regardless of what's in the papers, I would still be astounded if we signed him. If he applied himself, he'd be the best CM in the division (apart from Austin, obviously!)
Perhaps a daft question, but if we signed him, who would he replace in the team? Austin? Hope not. Btw, Duncan Castles is on the bandwagon now, suggesting we're trying to set up this loan deal. And with Derry too (can only hope this is not true!).
Whitejock, he wouldn't replace Austin, he would probably replace Norris while Norris is injured or maybe even play out wide as he has played there a fair bit before now. Derry would most likely be back-up for Austin or maybe even playing alongside him if Jenas was to play out wide. Personally I would like Derry but not sure he is the best place to spend out resources currently
Thought you sat £10 a week. That would have been more accurate? According to Warnock we have nothing to spend
Sorry, but if Jenas is playing for us with the intention of getting his fitness back, the last thing we're going to see is 100% commitment. With his injury record, he'll be looking after himself, in case he goes out injured again. Let's have someone with something to play for - hunger and the desire to prove themself. For me, Jenas is no worth the risk. Sad to say, but I think he's a has-been.
