    From Nufc.com

A first senior selection of Mehdi Abeid by Algeria for their African Nations Cup qualifier against Libya didn't materialise, amid press claims that the United midfielder could be set to join a Turkish side on loan.

Surely a CC side would be better? Coventry could use a new CM after losing Bigi.

He does need to go out and get game time at this stage of his career and the turkish league may be a good shout for him, no the highest quality league in europe but they have some good teams and some good players out there if he can get into the starting XI for a team i think he would do well.

He's got a good game in him, the kind of player that could be very useful in our current state of injuries.

Didn't he refuse to go out on loan last season to a CC side?

for me, a championship side to toughen him up would be the best move

I think he would thrive in the attacking midfield role or just off the centre forward like Haris Vuckic. He shown in the warm ups that he has the ability to keep the ball and has some technique in him and obviously has quite a finish, I haven't seen him show any sufficient guile or vision or the engine to play in the centre, although he is a decent battler.

I'd definitely try and loan him to a good Championship team like Blackpool on the terms he gets regular football in an advanced position to hopefully mould him into a top attacking midfielder.

Turkish league is better than the Championship no doubts. If he's getting regular game time that wouldn't be a bad move.

Short term championship move for me. To be honest, and I realise I'm probably alone here, I'd probably have him in ahead of Cabaye at present who is way off the pace.

Cabaye had 2? games at the Euros and then nothing until Tottenham. It's a matter of patience with him, with chiek back he can venture forward more freely and his early form will be forgotten.

To be fair to him though he has come off the hardest fastest season of his career, and while its only two games, international tournaments are undoubtedly draining both physically and mentally. Particularly so when you've never had to experience them before. Cabaye's early season form to me is both understandable and predictable.

People can criticise him all they like but the lad played 20mins of pre season. I don't care who you are or how good you are, you cannot be in tip top condition with that behind you. We just have to be patient and let him catch up. I think he'll have a big season as foreign players improve 10 fold with a season behind them, as Santon is already showing. I think it would maybe be better in Cabaye's case for the catch up to be done in the U21 games that's all. Abeid has really impressed me and it might have been a good way to keep him interested while looking after Cabaye.

He's a flair player so a loan to such an attack-minded league would really help his confidence and skill.

Not all our youngsters need to be beefmonsters who can take a punch to the gut. <ok>

I think both Vuckic & Abeid need to be loaned out, they're unlikely to get more than 10-15 starts for us which won't be enough to aid their progression IMO. On loan to a higher tier championship team or a foreign league would be good for both as long as they get 25+ starts. We'd still have Bigi and Amalfiltano (spelling) to cover Cabaye, Tiote & Anita. Jonas can also play in the middle so we'd have 6 CM's for the season.
