Have a listen to poyets interview on brightons player, what a bad bad loser and such immaturity from a grown man! we now play like stoke and hoof the ball up and that's it! let's face it if we were basing a team on one performance then brighton wouldn't do too well in that from the performance i saw at st marys, they certainly weren't a passing team, just a team of time wasters and negative play! Come on you saints!!!
Unbelievably bitter! It really is eating away at him, despite them being champions, he's fixiated by the way we play. Saying we play like Dagenham & Redbridge! **** off you twat. I bet he does the dirty on Brighton in the summer anyway The audio is on the bbc match report now http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13103055.stm
No one likes to lose especially when they we gifted a goal & they were winning at half time. He thought they had it in the bag. Must of been a bit of a shock to end up losing 2 - 1. Thanks to the boys for " Taking care of the Business " as Adkins would say. Now onto 4 more bits of business
Poyet's comments are appalling! To sugggest that we play kick and rush is simply untrue. If you listen to the Adkins commentary there is a suggestion that Poyet refused to shake hands after the game.
Does he think he's just the Champions League or the Premiership or something. Who is going to be looking back at this in 10 years, and remembering that Brighton won the league 1. I've got no idea who won this division 10 years (complete random stab in the dark, I'll say Stoke), and I don't think anyone cares. Freak.
Just listened to it and have to echo the comments above. Yes it did sound as if Poyet refused to shake hands with Adkins at the end. And i also have no clue who won this league 10 years ago regarding his 'in 10 years people will look back and remember who won this league' comment. He must be one of the worst sore losers ever.
Lets face it this actually goes back to last season. If you remember Brighton for what ever reason could not win a game to save their life. Gus poyet came in and did a good job. Then he brought Brighton down here and shock horrors they won. In the after match interviews after, Alan Pardew wasn't exactly flattering to Brighton talking about bus parking and packing midfield and also complaining that there was a blatant offside and foul leading up to there goals. Gus Poyet said that Southampton were not as good as they think they are and totally relying on Lambert to get all the goals with not much else to offer. He didn't make friends then and I guess he will not be on our Christmas list this year either.
Solent confirmed that Poyet and Adkins did shake hands by the way, but that it was a very brief shake.
Yes I also heard it on Solent radio that Poyet did shake Adkins hand as they made a point of saying it as they saw it from where they were sitting.
Just got back from the game and listened to Poyet's interview. Incredibly bitter especially coming from a team that tries to cheat as much as possible.
I have a funny feeling that Poyet may have fancied the Saints job when Pardew left and has been miffed that he wasn't considered or perhaps he turned down the chance to be interviewed?
It's a testament to this club and the fans that we get this annoyed when accused of playing boring football. I've never heard such an accusation about our team before, but either Poyet's being incredibly immature or had never seen us play before today. Adkins did say that at times in the first half we were playing too many long balls, but only a handful of people saw today's game. Millions saw our awesome performance against United, and anyone who knows about football knows that is the way we like to play. Anyway we won, so Poyet can suck my balls.
Adkins is a pragmatist. He will do anything to get this 'wonderful football club' out of this division. Sometimes you can play or are allowed to play beautiful football; sometimes you recognise that you have good players who can steamroller the opposition. At this end of the season, results are everything. Remember we outplayed Walsall and got nothing. Water off a ducks back is our Nigel. Keep chipping away, one game at a time and we'll be in the Championship, where hopefully there will be more opportunities to play open flowing football.
Poyet says basically the only difference between us and Dag & Red is Lambert and Barnard, no offence to Daggers but that is a ridicolous statement. Considering they were at full-strength, and we had Harding, Chamberlain, Schneiderlin and Barnard all out, all first XI players, not to mention Lallana not 100% fit, a magnificent result yesterday. At times we play outstanding football, but as NA says its about playing winning football. We have some excellent passers in our team, and generally we are not set up to be a kick and rush team, but at times you have to mix it up and be unpredictable, and with Lambert up front we always have the option of going long. Enjoy your sour grapes Poyet!
Even if Poyet was right, and we were just Dag & Red but with Lambert and Barnard, that is still quite a big difference. Barcelona are just Arsenal, but with Messi and Xavi... Two players can make a big, big difference Mr Poyet.
I sit just behind the players box at SMS and I could see very well the way that Poyet behaved at that game and it was disgraceful. It acted like a spoilt little brat and was using every opportunity to rile the officials and NA. His team tried all the professional bad sporting tactics that you expect from a South American team so I am not surprised one bit that Poyet responded badly to loosing. Didums!
