Afternoon boys, I have just come back from a very boring sales conference over in Germany and I haven't been able to get a decent internet connection over the last few days! I heard that Tommy Smith will not be available (thank ****) for the next league game so I wondered if PJ will make any signings as centre back cover? I love Paul Jewell and I think he is doing an amazing job under the circumstances. My real hope is that Mr Clegg can agree a 5 year contract to keep Jewell at this football club as I believe that there is no better manager to drive us forward. For all those doubters out there (I can't think why) I would just like to urge you all to be patient as he has only had 18 months to put things right and you can't expect miracles in that short space of time. COYB
Glad your back - it hasnt been the same without you Havent heard anything about Smith missing the next game. I doubt we will make a loan signing until late next week as we will lose a week from the maximum 93 day period. Plenty of names in the hat to consider though.
Very upbeat post JWM without a hint of sarcasm.. Did someone get laid on their Business trip in Germany??
Ahhh, the Reeperbahn, thereâs a few memories! I ran the Hamburg marathon back in my army days. Not only was our hotel on the Reeperbahn but the route took us down the main drag twice if memory serves. The girls on the theatre side of the road of the, ermmm, street working rather than room based variety were all cheering us on. Very marathon-friendly place was Hamburg. Our hotel was next to a topless barmaid bar (they were effing hideous), the doors of which formed the crotch of an open legged women. A classy town, from which many others could learn a great deal in my opinion.
Lots of fine memories of thé reeperbahn from my army days . Been beaten up there by pimps, left for dead , robbed you name it . Still made thé last show , another few steiners and all back to base for breakfast . Ahh these were the days . I here its really rough now tho
Welcome back JWM and nice to see you humour has been restored! While I have not sampled the delights - or not - of Hamburg, I have enough travel/holiday/work hiccups abroad to fill a book! The latest was being mistaken for an Abbot in a marvellous French hopsital where a lady passenger firnd of ours was being treated after a nasty car accident. The next door French very elegant patient of 80 plus years was determined to confess her sins - they would have been fascinating enough! and leave me her chateau, as her b....tard family never visited her! The staff had heard of IPTFC and our exploits in Europe all those years ago, and why didnt we think about a pre-season France tour one year... Back to Town business on the park, I have to say, if and when the present squad of players settle down and pay to their strengths - and they are properly coached and managed by PJ ( jury is outon that!), I remain fairly optimistic about our chances, and confidently predict a top 10 performance by March, in a ball crunchingly tight league, and scraping into top 6 by end of season. Who knows, but PJ wont go, unless we have another bottom half placing end game.
