I wasn't aware that they had a problem with sectarianism in the stockbroker belt of Surrey. You know fine that this is primarily a West of Scotland problem, and Rangers fans are the ones who are getting it in the neck at the moment. It's not unreasonable of them to point out one of the root causes in society. It seems to me that Celtic fans become very defensive when this issue is brought up and shy away from discussing it. To me it's self-evident that faith schools are divisive.
Squiggler I'm not in favour of faith schools. Didn't go to one myself. Not religious. However, I am sick of listening to Rangers fans like that ****** BillyBoy trying to justify their own bigotry by blaming it on faith schools. Look at the people who use this forum and tell me who are the Celtic posters who post thread after thread of sectarian-related ****e? It's always the same people: BH, Girvan, BillyBoy et al and they are all Rangers fans. By all means get rid of faith schools but do you honestly think it will make any difference when you have people like them in the world?

You're right that it's pretty much exclusively Rangers fans that keep posting this **** in GD. Getting rid of faith schools would have no effect on the middle-aged men who currently indulge in sectarian singing. However, it would certainly reduce the number of kids in the next generation growing up with an 'us and them' world view.
Firstly, I'm not 100% in favour of faith schools, however I have no "Faith" so it's easy for me to say I would not have a problem if they closed them but let's face facts, no one is going to attempt to ban faith schools, it's pie in the sky. Because some people view RC schools with a jaundiced eye (when they call them "Aparthied") does not mean we should ban them just because they may be a factor in breeding sectarianism, that has yet to be proven I think. Are Muslim, Jewish faith schools to be banned too because I know for a fact that the very notion of that would go down like the proverbial lead baloon. The primary cause of sectarianism in Scotland is parents. Bigotry is "home brewed" in the vast majority of cases, so do we stop bigots from breeding in order to root out this poison? Most of my friends when I was a kid went to a different school from me but it changed nothing, I never saw them as being any different and I did not care what they learned at their school, I did not give a damn, neither did most people I knew. Who on these boards could say hand on heart that he mistrusted people who went to a different school? Scant few if any i'd hazard. I do not believe there is any valid reason whatsoever for outlawing faith schools.
I am against faith schools because I am against faith. Why is it that only huns ever bring up the subject of faith into football discussions on here anyway? But anyway this whole anti-catholic school **** getting spouted by the huns is a convenient excuse for their own sectarian upbringing. Richard Dawkins cited faith schools as one of the biggest barriers to social integration in 'The God Delusion', some hun read it, posted it on Follow Follow now every semi illiterate hun in the country regurgitates it at every opportunity. There are thousands of Catholic schools in England with there being just as many Catholics per head of population as there is in Scotland - and you don't have any sectarian issues between Christians in England. If anything I'd give the Catholic schools credit because if you take this forum as a fair sample then there seems to be a lot more small minded dumb bigots being produced by the state schools in Scotland.
The most amusing thing about threads with this topic is the way that Timothy is "offended" by the mere suggestion that segregation of infants from the rest of society is a problem... Ok to sing pro IRA songs though,that's not offensive at all...

In fact, Mick and I have said we are against them and Dev has stated he's not 100% in favour of them so your first sentence is a load of ****e. Secondly, not one Celtic fan on here or anywhere else on not606 said it's okay to sing pro IRA songs. So your second sentence is a load of ****e too. One thing that is apparent is that, by far and away, the most bigoted posters on not606 are all Rangers fans: you, BillyBoy, BH, Girvan et al. Why is that? Why are almost all of you incapable of starting a thread that doesn't revolve around sectarianism or bigotry?
