In his presser for France, said Arsenal are playing a 4-4-2 Diamond. have you noticed this? is it we play that offensively and 4-3-3 defensively? or is Diaby a ****ing nutter. <yikes>

    We dont play a 4-3-3.

    more like a 4-2-3-1.

    ---------------------Scezney-----------------
    Jen/Sag----Merts--------Vermaelen---Gibbs
    -----------Diaby-----------Arteta------------
    The Ox----------Cazorla-------------Podolski
    -------------------Giroud-----------------------

Its very simular to a 4-4-2 diamond I suppose... which would look like

    ---------------------Scezney-----------------
    Jen/Sag----Merts--------Vermaelen---Gibbs
    -------------------Arteta----------------------
    -----Chamberlian---------------Diaby--------
    ------------------Cazorla---------------------
    ---------Giroud------------Podolski----------

I guess when we attack and Pod' cuts in its kinda like a 442 'diamond'.

It could be argued that we are, but more like this:

    ---------------------Scezney-----------------
    Jen/Sag----Merts--------Vermaelen---Gibbs
    -------------------Arteta----------------------
    -----Chamberlian---------------Podolski--------
    ------------------Diaby---------------------
    ---------Giroud------------Cazorla----------

I think the reason why he is saying it is a 4-4-2 diamond is because we have now gone back to the 4-4 defence. There is a trend nowadays to express a formation based on possession, so using that method, I would say we play a 4-4-2 when they have the ball and a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-1-4-1 when we have the ball.

If you are asked by a reporter, ya probably don't want to be rabbiting on, so saying a 4-4-2 diamond just shuts them up.

There was a good article on the zonal marking website that explains this. We've stolen an idea from Dortmund apparently (who probably stole it from us in the first place), when in possession, we play a 4-2-1-2-1, when we lose the ball, the outside attacking midfielders/wingers (Groskreutz and Kuba for dortmund, Poldi and Ox for us)) drop back into the midfield making it a 4 man mid, leaving the central attacking mid (Cazorla for us, Reus for Dortmund) sitting behind the striker ready to launch a counter attack. It worked a treat at anfield for us, it's worked a treat for Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park for the last 2 1/2 years.

Just gives more proof, when Wenger calls it a day, Klopp is the man to replace him.

I've got a pal who's training to be an orthopaedic surgeon (Sp*rs fan) and he's been saying for years that he thinks something's not right with the medical department at Arsenal...

That sounds possible to be honest.

Players like Diaby should be squatting and deadlifting to increase strength and flexibility.

Some clubs often shy away from heavier weights training - because recovery times from a large workout can be 2-3 days. But it makes a huge difference

It does make a difference - but they should also be doing Yoga / Pilates to increase flexability. As you know Bear, weight training shortens the muscles, so it must be combined with stretching or you lose flexibility.

There's also the ongoing Wilshere injury, the RVP problems, Rosicky, the fact that Sagna was allowed to run himself into the ground again leading to a second broken leg.

Combining our dreadful medical staff with the fact that our board can't seem to open contract negotiations with our players, we are a very poorly run club.

Who's to blame? Gazidis? Hill-Wood? This has been going on longer than Kroenke.

RVP had issues with arsenal medical team and brought his own trainer. Wilshere shouldn't have had so many set backs either. we have the best medical facility in the world, but the worst Physio's in the world.

That's more of an issue with isolated lifts.
When doing compounds like squats (with correct form) 95% of people will in fact get considerably more flexible.

But yeah I would agree Yoga and Pilates are both great for most athletes. I do know that Chelsea have been doing Bikram Yoga (with is basically Yoga in a room heated to 45 degrees) for the past 5-6 years.

Im pretty sure we do some Yoga practise at Arsenal.

If it's true that Arsenal wanted Diaby to use their own trainers and facilities because they were cheap then that is absolutely scandalous.

This thread is so gossipy, you should all be writing for the Sun.

There is nothing in the report or in any of the facts to suggest that Arsenal football club has a bad Physio department.

Scored the winner in the game in Finland, so glad for him.
Very important player for us if he stays fit.
