    Are there any out of contract players that might attract Sunderland? Mid-field general, cover for Catts, another striker? Who's out their and what would their fitness be?

    I would take Michael Owen but i doubt he would take us. he is a proven goal scorer at this level but his injury record will scare most teams away. It has been suggested that MoN is after him but i doubt he will come to us and I think that the favourites are Stoke as i believe his stables are very close to them.

    By all accounts farnboro, he is already in talks over a 2 year deal with them.

    I wasn't totally against going for him but equally, I am also not bothered we didn't.

    Says it all really I suppose?

    Out of them Drogba, Anelka, Mensah would be the top three targets for me

    Klasnic isn't a bad striker, doesn't score loads, but contributes.

    There's a rumour of Lucas Barrios getting released, same as Anelka & Drogba.

    Craig Gordon for me

    MIT is a great shot stopper but he doesn't catch the ball often enough and his distribution is poor

    Been reading that a place has to be vacant in declared squad of 25 and is subject to League approval. Kind of makes it unlikely.
