I think so yes, even though most of the teams in the league have improved significantly imo (excluding Villa and Norwich) I think we will do well
Yes, as we haven't got the geordie handicap hurdles to give everyone a head start now, or the total collapsing end of season flop. We will get between 54 and 58 points imo.
Does the points total really matter? The league differs from one season to the next. Its too early to say whether points will be any easier to pick up. More points doesn't necessarily equate to a better season. Position is all important, and really is all that matters. I do feel confident of a top half finish and anything on top of that is a bonus.
I think the points total is important. As it shows progress. 50 points plus puts you top ten normally.
I think we'll get 52 points this year. Steady improvement on last year - particularly without the handicap of last season of Bruce bringing in a whole new squad and mismanaging the crap out of them. If that gets us 8th or 9th, I'd be very happy indeed.
It's complicated to say what measures progress. Both position and points can be deceptive. The year we finished 10th on 47 points it was a very fortunate finish, we were only 1 point from 14th and different results on the final day could probably have made it worse. The previous year we were 13th on 44 points, but were a clear 5 points above 14th. Which year did we do better? I'll be happy this year if we finish 10 points above the team that's in 15th at the end of the season.
agree with this we have not reached 50 since getting back into the prem and that would be a good target
We did get 55 & 53 points under Reid back in 1999/00 & 2000/01 seasons. This should be our target this season to break the 55 point mark imo. I think we will.
The whole season unbeaten, 14 draws and 24 wins =86 points. Clatters raises the Premier League trophy and Citeh finish second. Is it bed time yet, lol
Niall does your dad know you have been at his strong liquor, 64 points eh, that's nose bleed territory.
