2-2 against the Cherries after 90 minutes. We have just gone through on penalties - Lee Barnard missed the first penalty for them emoticon-0136-giggl) and we went through 4-3, after Marc Pugh missed his attempt. Apparently the Cherries had the better chances during the 90 minutes. Our goals scored by Luke Rodgers and Brian Howard. PUP
A couple of cracking goals, and a thoroughly enjoyable match to watch. Bournemouth missed some real clear cut opportunities particularly in the second half, but Pompey created some good chances too. All the Penalties were superb (except the two misses). Barnard came on with 20 minutes to play and missed some sitters and one off the line. Will be good for your confidence although I can't help but think that you could probably do without an extra game
Fantastic result- I think this could be the morale boost we need. I wasn't at the game, but listening to it on the radio it sounded like our lads did well. I hope they'll take this result with them into the Crawley game, and bring back some points! PUP
Had to listen to Solent via Cherries player - I think one of the Cherries commentators was a Pompey fan - he got very loud every time we scored.
This may be a tad late, but it was on Sky and firstrow... The goals are well worth a look if you can find them somewhere.
The highlights are on the beeb's "The Football League Cup Show", or something like that. Not sure what day they're broadcasting it though- I think it might be tomorrow. But it doesn't even start until 00:25. Who can stay up for that ??
All I get when I try to waych highlights on the Beeb site is "Sorry - not available in your territory" Can some-one please bung some Pompey highlights on youtube????
F3ck me, you lot where only recently blathering on about this being just a tin pot, paint pot cup or something. Now it's all jolly exciting. Not that you've got a cat in hell's chance of getting to Wemberleeeee........ Southampton Football Club - Football League Trophy Winners 2010. Cheers.
That's nice. Anyway Pompey fans, who do you think we will play next. Don't forget to watch Soccer AM to find out who we get in the live draw.
I forgot to guess! Aldershot I reckon. That would be a trip down memory lane for those of us over 40!
Maybe Plymouth, so we can avenge their 3-0 win against the kids. Incidentally isn't it strange to go straight to penalties without extra time. It's a bit like skipping dessert and going straight to the brandy and cigars
How many teams are left in tournament after the first round ?? And I'd like a game v Brentford- Mrs. P_F_L's favourite team! We already have our tickets for when Portsmouth play against Brentford- in April 2013!
Mrs. P_F_L ?? - blimey, you must have married young !! Oldham at home - oh no, wait a minute, they got knocked out by 2nd Division Chesterfield last night. Poor old Paul Dickov got his tactics wrong
