Interesting how many goals in that video were the result of Dempsey being the most committed runner on the field. I say we should start him, at least until/unless Gyfi rounds into better form. Dempsey wants to win as much as anyone, and he knows he's in the best spot he's ever been to do so just as his time is running out. Used properly, he could light a good-sized fire under the team's collective... I'd say Rednapp's man-management of his squad was iffy. His man-management of his starting 11 was brilliant.
Yes, I've thought that also. He always gives 100% and never gives up. We could use some of that spirit.
Dempsey always worried me whenever we played Fulham, because of his tenacity, work rate and eye for goal. Closing down in advanced positions is a massive part of how Villas-Boas likes to set his team out, so I think he fits that philosophy perfectly.
As a footballer he is an asset to us but his determination and resilience will make a big difference, particularly in terms of lifting the confidence of the team. He seems to be the type of character that won't give up and that should rub off a bit (not to say others don't have it - he just seems to have plenty of it).
Dempsey's goal after 36 seconds against Jamaica. Scrappy, but they all count, I guess. The US went on to lose 2-1, so it didn't count for much, in terms of the result.
