Has there been a formal announcement of the PL and EL squads? As far as I can see we've only got 25 over age professionals (including 4 goalkeepers) so the PL squad should pick itself (inc Jenas, Falque and Bentley) but it would be good to confirm this.
Just in: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/premier-league-squad-list.page? 1. Emmanuel Adebayor 2. Benoit Assou-Ekotto 3. Gareth Bale 4. David Bentley 5. Sandro Cordeiro 6. Carlo Cudicini 7. Aaron Lennon 19. Jake Livermore 20. Hugo Lloris 21. Kyle Naughton 22. Scott Parker 23. Gylfi Sigurdsson 24. Jan Vertonghen 25. Kyle Walker In addition to the main squad list is an U21 list with an unlimited number of players. Players covered by this list include: Tom Carroll Steven Caulker Adam Smith Andros Townsend Any notable absentees?
Wow - I looked on the OS just before posting and couldn't see this. Exactly as expected I think. Interesting which U21 players get name-checked though - exactly the right ones!
Well that puts to bed any ideas of free agents then, we have no space As i understand it if you have a non-injured over 21 on your books he has to go into the 25 man squad if there is space.
Kane and Luongo would've been nice... At a push, Archer, Byrne, and The Obligatory Coulibaly Mention could've been included in the U21 Contingient.
The first 2 are out on loan so won't feature til the squad list is reopened in jan anyway. I guess the U21s mentioned are the ones most likely to feature, too many to list them all.
if the player is over 21 and not injured then they have to be picked if there is room. You can't omit a player unless your squad is full or he's injured (presumably long term)
We did actually have 4 keepers in the squad from January last season. That was the time Harry behaved as if he had a bottle or two too many of Rioja and decided to add Ben Alnwick to the squad.
No they're not - Kane, Luongo, Bostock, Fredericks and Dawkins are the only U21s we've loaned out this season (so far, anyway)
Eh? Spurm said "The first two [Kane and Luongo] are out on loan..." and you reply "]No they're not - Kane, Luongo... are the only U21s we've loaned out this season". Am I missing something?
He missed the sarcasm of my response, I missed that he missed the sarcasm of mine and thought he meant Archer and Byrne...
What about the squad for the Europa - are the rules different and if so will our squad be any different? I guess there are not many other options so would expect it to be similar unless the rules about using U21 players are vastly different?
So i'm right then seeing as Kane and Luongo were the first 2! Edit - whoa, just read the rest of the thread getting confused now. Ignore me. Next
I think the same rules apply for over 21 players (who must be on the A list). For U-21 the rules say "A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1990 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered withUEFA." I assume going out on loan counts as an interruption, so we may have some U-21s who don't qualify so would need to displace a player on the A list. The UEFA web-site shows us having a squad with only 24 names: Gomes is the one missing!
Seeing Bentley and Gomes on that list upsets me. I don't want to see either of them wear a Spurs shirt again.
seeing Gomes made me ask the question of 4 keepers, surely we could of left him out for an outfield player, same goes for Bentley, for an up and coming, young player
