After Bluff mentioned the Europa League squad on the Del Piero thread, I thought I would have a quick look at the Europa League squad and see who has been included!

    And here it is...

    Goalkeepers:

    Pepe Reina
    Brad Jones
    Peter Gulacsi

The one major surprise there is the exclusion of Doni. No idea what's happening with him... Anyone care to shed some light on that situation?

    Defenders:

    Glen Johnson
    Martin Kelly
    Ryan McLaughlin
    Jon Flanagan*
    Daniel Agger
    Sebastian Coates
    Danny Wilson
    Jamie Carragher
    Martin Skrtel
    Jose Enrique
    Jack Robinson

Not too many surprises on that front but it's interesting to see McLaughlin is on the main player list whilst Flanagan is on the B list. Maybe a sign that Rodgers rates McLaughlin higher than Flanagan at this point in time?

    Midfielders:

    Nuri Sahin
    Steven Gerrard
    Joe Cole
    Jordan Henderson
    Stewart Downing
    Lucas Leiva
    Joe Allen
    Raheem Sterling*
    Jonjo Shelvey

No massive surprises there if we're being honest.

    Forwards:

    Luis Suarez
    Oussama Assaidi
    Daniel Pacheco*
    Fabio Borini
    Suso*
    Samed Yesil
    Adam Morgan*

As we are all aware, not a massive amount of players in the foward positions. The likes of Pacheco, Yesil & Morgan might get a chance to impress after being included.

*Indicates player is on the B list.

It's also worth pointing out that players on the B list could still get game time. Jack Robinson, Raheem Sterling & Adam Morgan were all on the B list for the qualifying stage squad and they all got some game time.

Your thoughts on our squad for the next stages of the Europa League?

Hope that some of the youngsters can use this platform to make the jump and help us in this seasons campaign and many more to come. Suso and Yesil especially for me.

Think Yesil will get some minutes. Wth our attacking options rather short at the moment, he should get some match time and hopefully impress.

Coates should get a lot of minutes as well and that will help his development. Hopefully we'll have a good blend of experience and youth and do quite well in this season's tournament...

Coates NEEDS playing time where he can get it. He looks to have the making of a good player but like Lucas in the early days seems to make some bad decisions... especially under pressure. The kind of things experience will solve.

Like Lucas did, Coates is going to continue to improve season after season. Right now he looks shakey for Premier League games... but give him time in Europe and cups and he will be a star player eventually.

Connor Coady doesn't seem to be getting much of a look in. Thought he might be involved now spearings gone.

i've no thoughts about it at all... i've looked at the group we got and have decided no kids are going to get any time at all of note as every game will be a fight to get something.

When I saw Pacheco was in the squad, I thought you would be quite happy!

Will be interesting to see if he gets enough game time to impress Rodgers and stake a claim for some minutes in the Premier League.
