Southend central defender, striker or winger Bilel Mohsni is training with Town this week, we understand. The 25-year-old French-Tunisian, who was at Playford Road today, is definitely on his way out of Roots Hall despite having a year remaining on his contract and was close to joining West Ham earlier in the summer. Paris-born Mohsni, who is primarily a centre-half, played for French lower league clubs CO Les Ulis, US Saint-Georges and Sainte-Geneviève Sports before joining Southend after a trial in July 2010. Southend rebuffed a £250,000 offer from Blackpool in January 2011 with Mohsni having made a good early impression. Anyone seen this guy play and what are your thoughts?
striker/ defender is a fairly normal role. Been many of them down the years. Never seen one who can play as a winger though. Heard good reports of him but mainly only through stories linking him with other clubs - I havent seen him play though. Sounds cheap, has been wanted by a few decent clubs and can cover various positions so if it works out could be a good deal all round - unless we use him as a winger, which is the one thing we dont currently need.
Wasn't he the one who had a massive fall out at Southend, think he went on strike or something. I think i remember him from the playoffs last year, looked ok but nothing special!
Hard one to judge, never played at this level, but seems a reasonable prospect. Think the problems he had at Southend were with Paul Sturrock, and his disciplinary problems.
I've heard very good things about his footballing ability, apparently a very good CB. West Ham were rumoured to of had a bid for him rejected over the summer!!! I'm very wary of this though as I've heard his is a complete loose cannon. His temperament is awful apparently and gets alot of cards. Whilst we need a CB, I think we need a calming influence at the back or a leader not someone like this. He may be seen as a Utility player though, like I said there's no questioning his ability apparently just a live wire. Though this could be interesting, it's been a while since we've had a character in the team!!!
He sounds a right laugh according to this: http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich...lel_mohsni_on_trial_at_ipswich_town_1_1504353 He refused (if Wiki is correct) to return to Southend this pre-season, so convinced was he that he was destined for greater things than league two! Big Sam offered 150K having taken him on a tour of Germany. It was refused, so I suppose we'll be offering more than that. He might add some of the "steel" that PJ's been mithering about, but I think we should get some training ground practice of playing with 10 men!
only seen him once and i think he was subbed at half time but by all accounts he's an absolute lunatic
