I do computing, so you could call me a computer nerd.

Then again I'm failing miserably and haven't heard of the software that you're talking about, so I guess I'm not... Sorry mate.

I've heard good things about Kaspersky, cheaper and smoother than norton etc. In general though, do anti-virus software programs get rid of existing viruses on your PC or only ones detected AFTER you have bought the program? Im not gonna lie, its probably porn related.

I think it should be able to detect and get rid of any virus on your PC, I use AVG myself.

Use Avast anti virus as it's free, if you have a virus download maleware bytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ , it should clear up any virus, if you can't download it it as your virus won't let you try form a diff computer if you can and transfer it with a memory stick, if that can't be done download R Kill http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill this should stop the virus once run for a brief period so you can download malware bytes, after installed run your computer in safe mode (restart and press f8 when it restarts) then run a full scan with malwarebytes, this should take car of any virus' on your computer <ok>

As someone who has used and encountered a lot of anti-virus software in the course of my job I would recommeng Kaspersky of you're going to spend money and AVG if you're not.

Both should remove existing viruses although I'd have more faith in Kaspersky - especially if the virus is screwing with your installations - I have it on all of my PCs and so far it's been impecable.

That'd be quite hard, seeing as he was a holding midfielder ;)

Speaking as someone who's been in this game forever I would say that you can't do anything wrong with Kaspersky (it's my AV of choice).

If I didn't use Kaspersky then the only other worth considering would be BitDefender. The rest I wouldn't bother with and, well, as for the free stuff - it's worth just what you pay for it.
