His defensive inabilities outweigh his attacking strengths unfortunately. Now what's Ryan Dickson doing these days?
Shaw is or was in hospital. Playing against Walcott all you need is speed, and watching him only briefly on youtube I would say Shaw is faster than Fox. Let Arsen have a look at another academy player. Another factor may be that the 3 new signings may all start, so another debut boy is unlikely as it would change 50% of the defence
incase you are wondering, Shaw is wearing no7 and was playing right midfield. He scored the second goal, I believe they like to change the youngsters positions so they get a better understanding
I agree that it is easier to play a young MF than a young defender. The decision is between playing him and getting Shaw experience or playing them too early (against top sides) and destroying their confidence for ever. I also think that Fox brings a lot to the game with good passing and corner taking. For the ManU match, I watched from a corner seat for the first time and loved the way Fox encouraged the fans to clap more. It showed the fans they were involved as well.
nor do I. He tucks in towards the CB when the ball is on the other side, which is the correct thing for a full back to do, however when they switch it to his side, he does seem to stand off the wide player a littel too much. I am beginning tho think he has been told to do this, or he is worried about getting done for pace. It doesn;t make sense to me at the moment. He hasn't been that bad, however in the last two games, he has played a few too many 15-20 yard balls on the ground and straight into touch. I wish he would travel forward with the ball more. He receives pass standing still and then this allows the space in front of him to be shut down and thus forcing hjim to play long or back to Jos. If he moved forward to receive the ball, he'd have momentum to keep going forward.
If Fox is still injured, then we'll have to play him. This is good because if Adkins drops Fox and Shaw has a mare, then it would have been a case of if Fox played we could have got something. Whereas, if Fox is injured then Adkins has no other option but to play him. I don't want to see a right back playing on the left.
