I have to say I'm not going to criticise Lancs for wishing we lost today because I myself have to admit I wished it when Keane was her but I never boo or have booed at matches!! One thing I have to say, is you may not think PJ is a very good manager but the personal abuse he gets I do not like, I thought the same about Magilton. Toward the end of Jims tenure I remember one match I was actually ashamed to be an Ipswich supporter the lack of support he and the players got!! Couldn't give a **** about Keane mind!! Although we currently have a fair bit to complain about I'm delighted that we are now playing attractive entertaining football, consistently for the first time in a while!! So do you reckon the tranfer fee we paid for Taylor will be worth it now tractor bhoy? I know most people on here thought he isn't worth it, which when you look at his stats (i.e goalscoring record) and his history I can understand but everyone who I've heard who has seen him says he is absolute quality and I always thought he would go to a PL club as did most people I think. I was very surprised when we got him, I think it shows a sign of intent tbh!! I have to say one problem I have is we have 3 players who I rate very highly in Martin, JET & Taylor, problem is I believe all there best positions are behind the main striker possible with JET alongside as a 2nd striker but we cannot play all of them there. I feel JET especially is not suited out wide and you fail to get the best out of players like him on the wing, he needs to be played centrally and see alot of the ball. Taylor I also believe is much better centrally, I'm inclided to say we need to put Martin out on the wing again, IMO he does to a very good job out there and is the player most like a RW in our squad!! I agree tractor bhoy with your views on a CB, I think Chambers and Smith are decent enough, they are just too similar and need a leader next to them!!
OK number one - I don't give a monkeys about Jewell it's Clegg who's the problem. If we have to be in League One before he gets his matching orders then so be it. Number two - it makes no fecking difference whether you were at the game or not, it's the same old broken record and that's why the home crowd has fallen again this season and will continue to do so.
Agreed. It's money man Clegg who's to blame for Town's failure to progress. No doubt he's being told by ME to keep the purse strings tight (sorry Marcus, did you not realise owning a football club would require ongoing investment?) but the irony is that unless ME allows someone who knows more about football than Guam's ****ing Olympic squad to make financial decisions, Town will go down and he'll lose even more money. The longer this shambles goes on, the fewer fans we'll get through the turnstiles. There'll be fewer players wanting to play here and we will spiral into a Leeds-style abyss. Sorry for the sensible post, but this kind of political ****e really grinds my gears. Wake up and smell the Arabica, Marcus. Ditch Clegg, get yourself a long-term view and maybe you'll see a return on your investment. A pissed-off astrophysicist.
Nothing wrong with minding the purse strings, but offering a top forward at this level like Charlie Austin would not have broken the bank when we chose to piss away money on Jimmy Bullard instead. I think 6 months - 12 months ago those decisions were critical. Now the rot has set in so deeply I really don't think there's any way back. i cant remember having sold any players since Connor Wickham left? Maybe Clegg is literally scared of negotiating and takes the easy option of paying off the players. Things are so ridiculous that any explanation seems tangible.
You may be right! Clegg has no grounding in football and no experience of negotiating. Footballers' contracts. I remember the anger at Newcastle when Dennis Wise was appointed Director of Football, but at least he'd been a bloody footballer; albeit with an ironic surname! I'd rather have him negotiating contracts than Calamity Clegg.
for simon clegg see neil doncaster and he's now ruining scottish football. maybe clegg will ruin guam's football association in future... as soon as we got a football man in charge things got better both on and off the pitch. it may have been a coincidence but i really don't think so!
I have to say when I read that I took a double take, he has to be worth around at least 4 times that surely. Another wage negotiation for clegg/jewell to **** up..! The excuse of keeping the young players hungry does not really wash with me, he has been established in our first team squad for well over a season now, he should have been offered a wage to reflect that... This deserved a thread of its own..?
What a wally . And what if the losing streak gets us into the first division . you might not get to a lot of home games but those of us that do . " the season ticket holders " , dont want that **** . You will probably be cheering as the opposition are stringing passes together
