Morning Troops, A six goal thriller at Elland Road on Saturday, saw first goals of the season for Diouf and McCormack, a fantastic comeback from 2-0 down and a rousing crowd which the Daily Mail describe as the 12th man, BUT.... What it one point gained, or two points dropped. Having watched the highlights, where the hell was Peltier for the first couple of goals, we had Diouf back peddling like mad... Kean came out after the match blasting the ref, as there was a supposed foul on Robbo (Blackburn keeper) when Diouf scored Who was your man of the match? What was the asmosphere like at Elland Road? Do we need to play a defensive midfielder to protect our defenders? NO big announcement from Elland Road regarding the takeover, this is getting sickening, what is too much to ask??? Warnock has come out and said he is looking for another 3 or 4 players in the loan market, to make up the squad. Does this mean we should not expect any big signings?
Morning all-great game, heart feels like its two points dropped (as you would by conceeding an optimistic back heel right at the end) but my head says it was a good point all things considered. If you had offered me 7 points from 12 after the fixtures were released I'd have taken that. I operate on a "don't get your hopes up that way you cant be disappointed" philosophy. So in my mind, there is defo no takeover happening. I heard the rumours of an announcement on sat before the game and dismissed them immediately! I do think Warnock will pull a rabbit out of the hat with a couple of loan signings, but just in case, please see above philosophy!
Please sign Shelvey as one of those loan signings, such a good player at championship level and he won't get much playing time at Liverpool, especially with the amount of signings they've made
Morning all, feeling a little bit down because I thought we had won the game, but a decent point against another side expected to be in the mix. I think we all know that things behind the scenes are dire at ER and Warnock is fighting his corner against Bates, but I'm not bothering to think about T/O anymore as we've wasted too much time and had our hopes trashed time and time again. lets get positive for a change, and think that we had a tough opening few games and 7-points from those was always a result before the season started. We are above Cardiff, Leicester, Middlesboro, Watford, Ipswich, Wolves, Bolton and Birmingham. Many of those teams have parachute payments and were expected to be higher by now, or new owners investing millions in the team. Those teams above and only a couple of points away from us, include Brighton and CMS who some on here was worse than Billy, Shef Wed and Dave Jones with Mandric's cash, Blackpool who could win the league, and Forest and their new owners cash and Blackburn with parachute payments, who could easily have been well beaten by us if the ref had done his job. Bare squad with some not performing yet, and Greens injured, so all in all I'm going for glass half full for a change.
Morning all. Delighted with saturday's result. I really believe we have the best manager in the Division. Just hope we can convince him to stay a few more seasons. Given proper backing over a season, he would assemble an awesome squad. First time in years too that we have a manager worth listening to when interviewed. Hopefully over next two weeks well have some surprises in store
Morning all - Always points dropped at home when you don't take maximum. Our next three games are Cardiff, Hull and Forest - I think we could be in for a nasty shock and I pray our wheels are not going to come flying off. Despite rumours of an announcement you just have to look at the facts. No press conference called and straight after the transfer window closed (it would have been pushed through 24 hours earlier while we had time to make a signing) and we have to get used to the fact it isn't going to happen any time soon. New potential owners should have the balls now to say to Bates here is a 48 hour deadline, don't sign and we are pulling out, simple as that. Have these new potential owners no balls? They are allowing Bates to pull the strings yet they are the ones with the money, it is all ****, the longer this all goes on the bigger load of bollocks it all is. I am not expecting anything until the end of the year, it seems a very strange thing to offer Diouf a contract till Christmas, why not a year/complete season?
I am not expecting anything until the end of the year, it seems a very strange thing to offer Diouf a contract till Christmas, why not a year/complete season?[/QUOTE] Probably cos we only have enough money to last till January. Bates will then sell mcCormack, Becchio keep the ship afloat
EHD will be keeping his options open and may well be waiting to see if a prem side come in for him in January. he's still effectivley a free agent and can walk in january, so reckon it was his choice for short deal, and not the clubs.
Afternoon all. Hopefully by January the T/O will have happened & Warnock will have proper money to spend. We'll then know where we're heading, & may decide that we can do better than diouf... or offer him proper money to sign a full contract (depending on your point of view.) A draw at home as we were leading with only a few minutes left has to be 2 points dropped. But we still got a point & are now only 2 off top spot. I'd have taken that at the start of the season.
Not a chance is it to do with money - Diouf will be on peanuts, do you honestly believe even allowing for the loan repayment which equates to 3,000 fans per game we can't afford to pay the players we have on our books with an average of 20k paying fans Either this or both camps keeping options open. I would imagine he is one of the lowest paid and it is period for him to sell himself to us for a better contract or someone else.
I doubt it, there's a reason the re-signing dragged on so long. Look at Diouf, football is all about money for him, he used us and Donny exactly the same way, to put himself in the shop window, it seems we simply offered him the best deal because we're so desperate. He won't be on megabucks, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was upwards of £10k.
Simon, apparently according to hints dropped by Warnock last week, money was never an issue with Diouf per se. It was more to do with lengths of contracts, & where he felt welcomed. True, if someone came in with an offer of serious money & a 5 year contract, he might well feel the need to depart. But then again, who wouldn't. Let's see where we are when this 'kin take over finally 'kin' 'appens, & we can start being really picky about who we want. Let's also hope it happens soon so that the new owners can spend time & effort talking Warnock out of an early retirement.
Hes on 5k a week. Thats the figure on teamtalk article about him. Saw that figure mentioned in several places
We won't get Shelvey, Rodgers plays him. Anyway what's this about the amount of signings they've made?! They only signed 3! granted two play in midfield but they sold Adam, Aquilani and sent Spearing out on loan, so they still have room for him, especially with Lucas injured. Absolutely no chance we'll get him.
On the flip side, having been 2 goals down after 27 minutes, a draw can be viewed as a great fight back and a point gained. If we were on another forum, I might say "don't be such a dreary Boggers!" ;-)

Also, is Patrick Antelmi definitely our player now? He seemed to from being an unnamed trialist straight to an accepted part of the squad, with no news of any kind of deal.
