Bloody shocking if you asked me and no deterrent whatsoever...Should have been a points deduction in my opinion, which would have sent a message that managers cannot assault match officials.

Considering di canio received a 8 match ban (from memory) for pushing an official, I think a ban of double this length plus a points deduction would have been a more apt punishment (considering managers should be setting an example to the players and fans of their club)

Exactly mate..Managers are the voice and face of the club, and as you say Di Canio as a player got a far worse punishment than Pardew, which I find astounding.

Been very lucky again, that his ban wasn't longer.
It's as if his apologising straight after the game has been taken into account.
Why should that make a difference?

Like Reg says where's the deterrent?

What an utter utter cock you are <laugh> Points deduction?! Stop getting your Sunderland loyalties get in the way, Wenger got a one match ban for something similar.

Very constructive of you sir...Now please explain to me how a two match ban and £20,000 fine is in any way, shape or form a deterrent for violent conduct against an official?

'Violent' <laugh> A slight knock in the back, yes it's not acceptable but it's hardly assault (some members on RTG were calling for him to be charged with assault <laugh> ). Get over it, you only care because he's our manager if 'Marty' had done something similar you'd have put it down to passion.

I think you're being a bit ridiculous here like.

You keep talking about a deterrent, do you genuinely think managers are now going to think: "right, he pushed an offical, I can do it now." No, of course not. If anything they'll see what happened to Pardew (sent to the stands, 2 match ban, made to look like a bit of an idiot) and be even MORE concious of their own behaviour.

People saying points deduction? For what? Did we benefit from him pushing the official? No! Did the other team suffer because we pushed the official? No! A points deduction is insane man!

I did worry he may face more than 2 matches, because, as you've clearly demonstrated, people want him to be made an example of. But there is also a bit of a difference between his and Di Canios push - one was a fairly mincey push in the arm, the other shoved the official to the floor AFTER having already red carded for pushing and kicking an opposition player.

Plus, as I already pointed out, he was sent to the stands for the incident and no action occurred after he was sent away, so there was less of a need for 'retrospective' punishment as the ref had already given out his own.

Wenger has done worse and only gotten a one match ban.
